Domke F-7 Double AF Canvas Shoulder Bag - for 2 Large Film or Digital SLR Cameras with 4-5 Lenses and Accessories (Black)

About a year ago I resumed shooting after a few years hiatus during which I sold my equipment. I'd used Canon till then, but recent events steered me to Nikon and I needed a new bag. Let me say at this point that like a previous reviewer, I'm also a camera bag addict. I'd previously carried Tenbas, which I became attached to so now I looked for another one. However what the folks attold me is that some manufacturers, Tenba included, no longer make bags for SLR/DSLR's; they're focusing on developing bags for mirrorless systems. It also became apparent that many current shoulder bags aren't as well made as they once were. After a few unproductive experiments with competitors, I finally gave Domke a try and they're a fit. My first bag was a J-2, which was pretty good but I've just switched to the F-7 which for me, is as close to ideal as can be. First, I must say, I prefer the black, for a few reasons, mostly because it doesn't show dirt like it seems to me the lighter colors would. As to screaming camera bag, steal me, well, years ago I read that people who steal things like cameras for a living know how to spot all camera bags so I'm not sure that having another color would stop them. Plus I find black the best looking, but that's just my preference. I also think the canvas is more durable than the ballistic nylon, and I love that it's fully waterproof, not water resistant. I find that Domke's don't have many bells and whistles i.e numerous zippers leading to inner compartments. At first I thought that was a minus but now I think it's a plus because it doesn't tempt me to put tings in my bag I don't need. Roomyness-wise, it's a tight fit, but adequate. I carry an F-6 with motor drive, 50 & 85 1.8 lenses, a 300mm 2.8 and a D800 flash and they all fit fine. I can see how I could rearrange things to accommodate another lens, but adding another lens and a second body would probably not be do-able. Summing up, I'd say Domke bags are sort of old school in the best way -- durable, with space for SLR/DSLR's and enough room but not more than you need. I'm a new fan of them, and look forward to carrying this one for as long as I keep shooting.
