Domke F-803 Camera Messenger Bag (Olive Drab)

This is an extremely handsome bag. It is well proportioned and carefully constructed out of sturdy canvas. It has a discrete, understated look - it could easily be mistaken for a non-photographic brief case. Problem is that it is not very practical. There is almost no padding on the outside walls. There is a sloppily constructed padded cube that occupies about 1/3 of its length and runs from the bottom to the top, the function of which is unclear. I guess you could stuff lenses into it if they had their own padded lens bags. If the cube was pushed to the side, you could fit mirrorless camera with a lens into the remaining 2/3 of the cavity but then there would be wasted space. If you want to store a camera body without a lens, you could place it into the padded cube and stuff lenses on either side. (I dont like to change lenses any more than is necessary for fear of introducing dirt onto the sensor). The fabric is lightly impregnated with waterproofing wax. This does get on your hands, particularly if it is hot. Feels like you were handling candles.
