Domke F-9 JD Small Shoulder Bag (Olive)

A well-designed bag for smaller kit. I am trying to downsize my travel equipment and measured carefully. (Do likewise if you like the look of this bag because it IS small). I used to travel with two Nikon bodies, an 850 and 7500, plus 4 or 5 primes, but using this bag, I can house a Fuji x-30, a Nikon 3500+fisheye, and a Fuji 100V, with one of the Fujis zipped into the side pocket, (which is larger than it seems). The top inside flap zips to enclose batteries and small filters, while the open side pocket will take flat items such as a tiny notebook, memory cards, soft cloth, pens. There is not much width to this pocket but that adds to the overall compactness of this bag. I like the top carrying handle for a quick grab, but don't like the loud velcro close, so have attached an extra velcro strip to eliminate the velcro sound, using the metal clip to complete closure. You can see why Domke added the velcro because it is really effective in keeping the flap closed when using the top handle without using the metal clip. It's weird that the tan version is twice the price of the exact same olive bag. Is that just Domke charging what the market will bear, with tan being the more popular style? My main need was for a really compact bag and this Domke matched the need. For international airline travelling with hand baggage only, I prefer being able to stuff my camera bag into a backpack without trouble and this is perfect for that quick in-and-out as necessary. I have the Domke mail-carrier asymmetric shoulder pad but find that it is not as necessary with such a lightweight kit. If you can cope with the much reduced space, this is an amazing bag and well worth the price. Good luck in your research.
