Archival Methods 121-1319 Overview
With a drop front design, the 13.5 x 19.5 x 1.5" black Museum Drop Front Box allows easy access to your prints, while a removable lid reduces table space needed during presentation. The interior of the box is lined with a 10-pt. card stock that is acid- and lignin-free. With a depth of 1.5" it can accommodate between 60 to 70 unmounted prints or 10 to 12 matted 4-ply prints. The adhesive used in construction is pH balanced, and the archival box has passed the Photographic Activity Test (PAT), which makes the box suitable for long-term storage.
The Box is made from a museum quality 0.100 Kappa Binder s Board, which is lignin- and acid-free, and the sulfur content has been reduced to < 0.0008%. The board has been buffered, which keeps acidity from transferring to the stored materials. The walls of the box and the lid have been double-lined without glue added in between the layers, and the exterior has been covered in a book-binding cloth, including a 100% aqueous acrylic coating, which makes the exterior moisture resistant.
