Platypod Stackable Gooseneck (2-Pack)

One online image showed lights attached. I realized that they weren't included ("in the box" is invaluable tool). But I expected them to be listed as an accessory, but were not. Okay, I'm being REALLY picky at literally THE best online ordering website IN THE WORLD, for ANY product (take THAT Amazon)! But... if you could be so kind as to identify the pictured lights, I would be most appreciative? As far as the goosenecks are concerned, they are sturdy and well made. Look forward to using with the pictured lights.

These are great for getting a small light like the Lume Cube (or anything that has a female 1/4x20 threaded hole) to reach out to where you need it. I use them a lot for macro photography to back light flowers, or get light onto something that's not lit well enough. Can be easily mounted onto a Platypod base. Just be aware that with both arms extended, the base isn't heavy enough to hold them up. Adding a rock or other heavy object on the base gives it the needed stability. My only issue is that the arm loosens very easily, so it sometimes is difficult to get it to stay in place if the direction you want it to point is at all to the left side of the screw-in point on the base (when looking at the base from the light end of the arm). It just requires care in placement of the base so the pull is in the direction of tightening the screw, rather than loosening it. I also use them mounted into the SmallRig Super Clamp which I clamp to my tripod leg. They come with an adapter so you can use them on a male 1/4x20 stud (like the top of smaller tripods), or female socket in anything like the SmallRig clamp.

These are great, and no, you do NOT need the (v. clever but overpriced) Platypod to use them. Because they are standard screw type (1/4-20 male thread and socket) you can add them to ANY camera cage / frame / rig and use them to mount small lights etc. (see photo, added to a cheap but sturdy Ulanzi rig/frame that fits a small mirrorless and a v. large phone on top). Perfect for a portable macro / closeup setup that adds flexibility to position your LED lights as needed on the go. I would not stack them, and expect them to remain stable unless you use a very tiny light (like the cube type shown in official photos); I use two relatively thin/light LumeCube GO lights, and stacking two of these rods does not seem to be a good idea... but that's a small / non-issue for what I needed and planned to use them for.

These goosenecks come in handy for positioning Litra Torch lights exactly where I want them. They screw into my tripod, can be attached to my hot shoe or other stands, etc. I recommend them.

Bought a pair of these to mount my Viltrox VL-300B LED lights on for video conferencing in a V formation. The base I have is a Platypod Ultra. I stacked two goosenecks since that's the only way the videolights can clear the monitor and are high enough for correct illumination. Each 8 diameter round LED light weighs 400 grams so I thought this would be enough since the stacked gooseneck rating is 1lb (454 gr). No way. Both of my video lights flop down to the desk immediately, forget about any sideways tilt. A single gooseneck somewhat holds the video light as long as it's not angled too low, but this is not high enough. The bottom line is take the weight bearing ratings with a huge grain of salt.

First of all, I was impressed to get the package so quickly. During these times everything takes forever, but this came within 7 -10 days! I love the product. The fact that is stackable is amazing. It is flexible but strong. That is great! I just wish I had ordered an adapter to connect it to the device I need to use it with.
