Ikelite 71480 Overview
This Ikelite 200DL Underwater Housing is a full-featured and durable waterproof housing for Sony FX3 and FX30 digital cinema cameras. Suitable for scuba, snorkeling, surfing, the pool, and any application in or around the water, the 200 depth-rated housing can also be used for still photos with the manual hot shoe connection for triggering optional external strobes via sync cords. You can also add a converter for TTL operation with compatible Ikelite DS strobes.
Ergonomic, mechanical push buttons, dials, and levers afford access to all important camera functions. Built for durability, the enclosure is made in the USA from a corrosion-resistant ABS plastic and polycarbonate blend. It is white on the front, top, sides, and bottom, but clear in the back to allow you to monitor the O-ring seal and maintain your view of the camera s rear controls. The supplied aluminum tray with a left-hand quick release grip affords improved balance and handling while offering an attachment point for an optional lighting arm.
This housing ships without a required lens port and accepts various interchangeable dome and flat ports for an array of lenses. For complete compatibility information, see the The Dry Lock (DL) port system accommodates lenses with large diameters, and it provides added security against leaks at the surface, thanks in large part to the included vacuum valve for checking watertight integrity before the dive. You ll need to pick up the required pump to remove excess air and create a vacuum.
Dry Lock (DL) Lens Ports
A system of extensions can accommodate a huge variety of lenses with ease. Most popular zoom lenses and select lens focus rings can be engaged using simple gearing that puts adjustment right at your fingertips. A large, soft-touch knob on the side of the housing makes fine-tuned adjustments a breeze. Zoom and focus gears differ depending on which lens you are using. Zoom gears are sold separately.
Confidence
The unique rear seal design prevents accidental twisting or stretching of the O-ring for simple and confident assembly. Ikelite has eliminated the need for an O-ring groove or channel, which can trap sand, dirt, or debris. Three double-passivated stainless steel locking lid snaps are simple to use and virtually unbreakable. The clear back allows you to see the O-ring form a solid, watertight seal as it closes.
Vacuum Testing
A vacuum valve is installed standard on the side of the housing. The vacuum valve is designed to be low-profile to avoid interference with controls. The optional Vacuum Pump with Gauge #47011 allows you to draw a vacuum on the housing to check for leaks before entering the water. Drawing a vacuum on the system also provides extra security at the surface of the water, especially important when using the housing in rough surf.
Accessory Ports
The spare M16 and 1/2" -20 threaded accessory ports provide an attachment point for third-party accessories, including HDMI bulkheads. The M16 port allows the use of the optional USB-C charging and data transfer bulkhead, which lets you recharge the camera and offload video without having to remove the camera from the housing.
Optional TTL Functionality
For still photos, you can employ TTL exposure control by adding the DL2 DS Link Sony TTL Converter, the Ikelite ST1 Hotshoe Kit #46042, and a compatible Ikelite DS strobe.
Ergonomics
Controls are provided for all functions except Custom button 6. The rotating controls are all operated intuitively via premium soft-touch knobs. An oversized, lobed knob puts the zoom/focus knob at your fingertips while your left hand stays on the handle. All rear camera buttons are accessible by smooth action, hard-anodized aluminum push buttons for reliable performance and easy maintenance.
