Zoom ECM-6 Extension Cable with Action Camera Mount (19.7')

I bought this to use with my Zoom F8 field recorder for part of a budget friendly, compact Mid/Side surround ambience system. It functions properly and extends the capabilities of the F8 to use the interchangeable mic capsules that came with my Zoom H6. For this it's great. However, the cable could be designed better. It simply does not fit very well into a smaller mixer bag like the Orca-28. The bulky plug and straight exit of the cable are so large that the bag has to squash the cable to leave enough room to use XLR input 1 no matter how I arrange it. Work arounds would be an extremely low profile XLR cable on input 1, a larger/taller mixing bag like the K-Tek, or have the ECM cable exit from the side instead. Despite the ease of access the Orca bags are known for, using the ECM cable with the Orca 28 is so difficult enough to access that I simply leave it plugged in when storing my bag in a Pelican 1510 case. The cable is very stiff, but does seem well made. The other caveat is that the gain controls are on the mic capsules themselves, meaning it would have to a set and forget scenario if difficult to access. Unfortunately, plugging the ECM cable into the F8 bypasses the on board trim knobs. I'm not sure what benefit the action-cam mounting system has at this time, but it does have the correct threading to mount it onto a tripod for stationary use. All in all, it works, but for the price some budget small diaphragm condensers and real XLR cables would be better overall. I will be upgrading my setup in the future.
