BiG SiX SuperAnalogue Mixing Console Kit with UV EQ Overview
This Solid State Logic BiG SiX SuperAnalogue Mixing Console Kit adds a UV EQ 500-Series UltraViolet stereo equalizer to sculpt instruments, enhance busses, and fine-tune master mixes with minimum phase shift and maximum precision.
Solid State Logic BiG SiX SuperAnalogue Mixing Console and USB Audio Interface
Fusing proven hit features from 40 years of legendary large-format SSL consoles with user-requested enhancements to the SiX mini mixer, the is a 12-channel SuperAnalogue mixing console and 16x16 USB audio interface offering SSL's high-end sonic signature, powerful analog processing, and versatile configurability in a frame that's equally at home stationed in a studio or living life on the road.
It features four mono input channels— each containing a console-grade SuperAnalogue microphone preamp with phantom power, a high-pass filter, and up to 72 dB of gain, plus a line / Hi-Z 1/4" input— and four stereo input channels. The mono channels boast single-knob compressors, 3-band EQ, and balanced insert points for flexible onboard and outboard processing, and all channels are outfitted with smooth 100mm faders.
Fully equipped to function as the hub for your recording session operations, the BiG SiX provides an XLR talkback mic input with selectable phantom power, the LMC (SSL's heralded Listen Mic Compressor), and adjustable output level. Separate talk buttons enable the talkback signal to be sent to either or both of the two cue buses, which can be sourced from the channel cue sends or external inputs. Connect the rear-panel 1/4" foldback outputs to your headphone amps, and plug in control room headphones to the top-panel headphone jacks. After all recording is done, this desktop console grants 18-input summing at mixdown. With a G-Series stereo bus compressor on the main mix bus, a pre-fader mix insert, and an alternate B bus (great for parallel mix compression), the BiG SiX is highly capable of handling in-demand mixing styles. Also, its comprehensive control room section accommodates two sets of speakers, source selection, and easy access to mono, dim, and mute functions.

Solid State Logic UV EQ 500 Series UltraViolet Stereo Equalizer
Infused with technology from SSL's Fusion analog processor, the Solid State Logic UV EQ is a double-slot 500 Series UltraViolet stereo equalizer that offers minimum-phase performance, four flexible bands, and a high-pass filter for musicians and engineers at any level. Given its sonic versatility and modular form factor, the UV EQ is a stellar addition to home studio setups, mobile recording rigs, and racks in commercial facilities.
The high and low bands are shelving filters with up to 9 dB of boost or cut and four different frequency options per band. The midrange bands are fully parametric, with sweepable frequency and Q controls and switchable gain range (± 9 dB by default or ± 18 dB in Focus mode). You can also keep the low-end power under control by activating the 18 dB/octave high-pass filter, which features frequency selections at 30, 40, and 50 Hz. There's also a dedicated output trim to allow convenient gain matching or driving converters to clipping.
Sculpt Instruments, Enhance Busses, and Fine-Tune Masters
UltraViolet stereo equalizer (UV EQ) takes the acclaimed minimum phase-shift Violet stereo EQ section from the SSl Fusion analog processor and puts it into 500 Series format whilst adding two fully parametric SSL midband EQs featuring precision Focus mode for the ultimate in 500 Series EQ flexibility and tonal control. UV EQ is the perfect partner for the SSL G-COMP Stereo Bus Compressor module, offering advanced SSL processing all from 500 Series modules.
Beyond Violet Is UltraViolet
Over and above Fusion's Violet EQ, UV EQ takes features further, adding two dedicated midrange bands with precision Focus mode. They're classic SSL parametric midbands capable of the traditional SSL processing techniques but also go far beyond, offering absolute surgical precision all the way to creative notch-style filtering and resonant screaming.
Focus Mode
Focus mode allows users to hone in on problem frequencies or specific frequencies they want to accentuate or attenuate. Pressing the Focus switch in automatically narrows the chosen Q setting further and increases the range of gain available beyond the normal ± 9 dB operation to a huge ± 18 dB. In true flexible SSL workflow fashion, it transforms this sweet-sounding, musical SSL EQ into a more surgical tool.
HPF and Trim
Remove rumble and tighten up low frequencies the HPF found on UV EQ brings a world of flexibility when processing low end. The interaction with the LF shelving band offers unique ways to sculpt signals and yes, UV EQ is capable of the sought after boost-and-cut effect. A dedicated Trim control means you can hit convertors with plenty of headroom or smash into them the perfect amount when clipping is desired.
