FLIR 380260-NIST Overview

Fully equipped for comprehensive cable testing, the Extech 380260 Autoranging Digital Megohmmeter from FLIR sports a backlit LCD screen and double-molded housing for durability. With an ability to measure up to two kilohms and three test voltages (250, 500, and 1000V), you can tackle almost any cable maintenance scenario.

The Extech 380260 can be used for continuity testing, AC/DC voltage measurements, and insulation resistance. A number of useful functions are included, such as automatic discharge and power off after testing, locked power on for hands-free operation, and Data Hold to freeze displayed readings on the screen. The protective holster for the meter includes a stand for putting the device down while taking readings. The Extech 380260 includes heavy-duty test leads, an alligator clip test lead, a hanging strap, a hard carrying case, and six AA batteries.

NIST-Certified Calibration

This version of the Extech 380260 is calibrated from the factory using the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) standard. NIST creates and certifies standard reference materials (SRMs) which are used for calibration, verifying accuracy, and tracing measurements.

NIST calibrations determine a relationship between the measurement standard (like the Kibble balance) and that instrument or object (such as a cylindrical metal kilogram mass). By using a world-class reference such as the Kibble balance, calibrations make it possible for a piece of measuring equipment to make the most accurate measurement it can.
