Ashly IS3.8P Overview

Deliver high-quality speech and music with the black Ashly IS 3.8P, a slim column array speaker with a switchable 8-/32-ohm impedance for flexibility in installations and mobile deployments. The 8-ohm mode is ideal for typical low-Z and live-performance applications, while the 32-ohm allows multiple numbers of speakers to be driven from a single 4-channel amplifier.

The rugged aluminum enclosure houses eight 3" full-range drivers equipped with neodymium magnets for optimum performance. The speaker features a 105 Hz to 19 kHz frequency range (-10 dB) with a maximum SPL of 125 dB. The rear panel features a 4-pin block connector and two NL4 speakON In/Thru connectors. Several wall and pole mount options are available. The IS 3.8P includes a block connector and a J-bracket.

Power Multiple IS Columns from a Single 4-Channel Amp

• Avoid the complications, added cost, and sound-degrading characteristics of the transformers typically used in column speakers. IS Series 8-/32-ohm selectable impedance allows easy reconfiguration for performance install (8 ohms) or distributed audio (32 ohms) applications
• Transformers limit power handling, reduce performance through insertion loss and overdriving at lower frequencies. They are more complicated to install and can result in an unsightly add-on and additional cost
• With the IS Series 32-ohm impedance setting, one amp (2 ohms) can be " stretched" across an amazing number of IS s for BGM or announcements

Superior Dispersion for Excellent Coverage

• With their linear array configuration, the IS Series delivers tight, controlled vertical dispersion with a long throw angle and ultra-wide horizontal dispersion. Consistent front-back and side-to-side coverage helps everyone hear the same thing, no matter their position. More listeners on the far left and right in a ballroom, church, municipal facility, or wedding venue can hear the spoken word better. Live or DJ music in a restaurant or bar is more immersive and less directional. Every seat is the best seat in the house
• Many column speakers offer tight vertical and wide horizontal dispersion. That is actually a natural characteristic of this type of speaker. However, where they mostly fall short is the consistency of their horizontal coverage angle. A typical column speaker loses as much as 12 dB of SPL in the mid and upper range when only 40-45 degrees off axis
• The IS Series maintains even coverage over a wide horizontal angle that will assure your audience on the left, center, and right sides of the house (as well as front row and back row) hear the same clear, intelligible voice and music details

Custom DSP Processing

• IS Series speakers sound great right out of the box. But using them with Ashly amps and DSP makes their performance even more amazing
• Advanced DSP voice presets (available for free from the Ashly website) for both Protà ª a and AquaControl DSP-equipped amps provide sophisticated processing (PEQ, HPF/LPF, FIR filters, X-Over, and Delay) to deliver optimal performance for a variety of venues by providing flat frequency response across the listening area without the need for complicated and time-consuming manual adjustments.

Three Levels of DSP

• Level 1: applies the most advanced and precise DSP to Ashly speakers. Level 1 currently works with most Protà ª a-enabled products and includes multi-band PEQ, Universal X-over filters, HPF/LPF, FIR filters, and delay (when used with the SP 8.1P or SP-12.1P subwoofers). This DSP level applies to the following Ashly Protà ª a-equipped amplifier and DSP processors: nXp, nep, pema & ne matrix processors (ne4400, 4800, etc.) Level 1 speaker files will also be available to work for AquaControl-enabled models, such as the mXa-1502. These will provide similar processing to that found in Protà ª a-based models
• Level 2: designed to work exclusively for the ne24.24m matrix processor. It encompasses many of the same features as Level 1, except for FIR filters
• Level 3: exclusively for the 3.6 & 4.8SP speaker system processors and includes more basic PEQ, HPF/LPF functions and delay. No FIRs or universal X-over
