Lighter and more rigid than the original MDT cone, this 8" mulch-colored NEAR All-Environment Speaker from Bogen Communications is an all-weather outdoor speaker that you mount in the ground. Designed and built for continuous outdoor use, this speaker features second-generation anodized construction and an epoxy-coated, stainless-steel grille to withstand the rigors of outdoor use in temperatures ranging from -20 to 160° F. The UDIO (upside down/inside out) driver employs voice coils wound both inside and outside for extremely accurate linearity, even at extreme volume levels. Furthermore, the spiderless motor uses a specially developed ferrofluid to center the voice coil and eliminate the distortion normally generated by spiders for crisp and clear sound.
