Ultimate Support Ulti-Boom Pro Telescoping Microphone Boom

I have replaced many of my booms with this unit. The clutch keeps the mic where you set it with no issues. Easy grip, and even lets you move it while it is tightened without stripping it out. And its about time somebody actually put a decent sized counterweight on the end of the stand. I use it live playing in cover bands.

This is the best boom I've used. The single knob adjustment is excellent. The latch for the telescope also works well, and I love the fact that the telescope doesn't rotate. And ... the counterweight is actually heavy enough to be useful, which is a rare thing.

I love the single adjustment knob. It seems most manufacturers want to stick us with those stupid thumb screws which are always falling off or getting bent. The single adjustment knob is tight and does its job well. The boom extension features a D-shaped extension rod so it won't accidentally rotate once locked in. However, if the locking lever is extended past 90 degrees to unlock it, the D-shaped boom extension will rotate freely inside its extension tube and lose its indexing. If you accidently lock the locking lever while the extension tube isn't indexed properly, it can jam up and become very difficult to unlock and unjam. I think a future design changed to prohibit the locking lever from opening past 90 degrees - or an internal tube design to prevent the D-tube from slipping out of its profiled index point would be good. Until then, be careful when opening or extending. In most of my uses, I expect to keep the tube fully collapsed anyway. Just be careful with this unit so you don't jam it up. Also, I ordered a total of four booms and one came in with the stand adapter not drilled or tapped so that one must have got by the quality control bot.
