The B-2 Pro sports cardioid (unidirectional), omnidirectional (360° capture), and figure-8 (bidirectional) patterns to choose from, letting you record everything from intimate vocals and drum overheads to room ambience and guitar amps. You also get a switchable low-cut filter for rolling off unwanted low-frequency rumbles and noises, and a switchable -10 dB input pad for taming extremely high SPLs. The transformerless FET circuitry provides low-noise performance, while the gold-plated XLR output maintains signal integrity and avoids corrosion. With a satin nickel-plated brass body, this mic will stand up to the test of time. The B-2 Pro includes a suspension mount for further isolation from vibrations, a windscreen, and an aluminum carrying case.

Advantages of Condenser Mics

Condenser microphones are the ideal choice for capturing vocals and acoustic instruments. Condensers capture much more detail than most dynamic mics because of the high sensitivity and wider, flatter frequency response of their transducers, which use two electrically charged plates instead of a large coil.

As a result of this active charging of plates, condenser mics require power, unlike dynamic microphones. Ensure you have a mixer, interface, or in-line device capable of supplying the B-2 Pro with its required +48V phantom power.

Why Dual Diaphragm?

The B-2 Pro sports a dual-diaphragm design, meaning that the transducer has two membranes (front and back) which vibrate in response to sound. This helps to improve directionality at near-field ranges (close miking), making it an ideal choice for closely recorded vocals, guitars, drums, and more. Combined with the B-2's multiple patterns, this allows you to more precisely capture the details you want, while rejecting unwanted noise better than single-diaphragm mics at close distances.
