A Wide-Cardioid Pattern for Instruments and Ensembles
- Equally at home in the orchestra pit, on a live stage, or in the studio, the 2015 is a versatile mic you can use to capture detailed, natural sound from a wide range of instruments, including grand pianos, horn groups, vibraphones, marimbas, xylophones, and other large instruments it s also an excellent choice for drum overheads.
- Using an additional 2015 (available separately) for stereo recordings can provide many good mix options, especially for overhead, ambient, and ensemble recordings.
- The microphone offers a linear frequency response when positioned about 11.8 inches from the source.
- A flat on-axis frequency response with a light presence boost in the 5 to 15 kHz range provides faithful reproduction of instrumental performances.
- The 17mm electret-condenser capsule delivers rich, expressive sound and can handle SPLs up to 147 dB, allowing you to use it on loud sources.
- The uniform wide-cardioid polar pattern provides 3 dB of attenuation at 90° and 6 dB of attenuation at 135° . This pattern ensures performance that is similar to an omnidirectional microphone from the front, but from the back, it exhibits performance similar to a cardioid mic.
- The uniform off-axis response ensures that any bleed from other instruments is a truly accurate reflection of the original sound.
Durable, Performance-Ready Build Quality
- Live performance stages can be difficult environments for equipment, especially for a go-to mic that you ll use on every show.
- The 2015 is built with a thick and robust structure that can stand up to the everyday abuses of touring and performing, with extra-durable surfaces for more graceful aging.
- The compact size makes it easier to optimally place the mic, even on cramped stages packed with equipment.
- The included professional-quality holder provides a firm grip to keep the mic in place a foam windscreen is also supplied.
- Connect the standard 3-pin XLR connector to a wide variety of mixing boards and preamplifiers and power the electret-condenser capsule with 48V phantom power.
