MILAB VM-44 L Overview
The VM-44 Link from MILAB is an active cable version of the VM-44 microphone and the smallest iteration of the series. The microphone capsule and first-stage of the amp are separated from the main amp by a 9.8' cable, making it easy to position the mic, even in small spaces. The VM-44 Link is well suited for field recordings, stereo setups, and as a low-profile podium mic when combined with the TS-44 Table Stand (available separately).
The microphone features a professional small-diaphragm condenser element that works well on vocals and is ideal for transient-rich sources like acoustic guitar, piano, and drums. With its finely tuned frequency response and discrete design, it excels both in the studio and on stage.
The cardioid pattern helps you stay focused on your intended sound sources, but the capsule can also be exchanged with optional omnidirectional and supercardioid alternatives. With the -12 dB pad engaged, the VM-44 can handle up to 140 dB SPL, providing enough headroom for a wide range of acoustic or electric sources. The VM-44 Link includes a mic clip and windscreen.
A Workhorse Condenser Mic
The handmade, small-diaphragm condenser capsule is wonderfully transparent and handles fast transients and high-frequency content like few competitors. It has a beautifully straight frequency curve with a presence peak around 10 kHz, which makes the VM-44 ideal for almost any sound source, but especially for acoustic instruments where it absolutely shines.
Swappable Mic Capsule
If the cardioid pattern is not for you, the VM-44 supports several optional alternative mic capsules. Replace your cardioid capsule with the omni capsule for wider pickup, ideal for room mic duties on ensembles for example, or go even more directional with the supercardioid capsule, perfect for dialogue capture in TV and film when boom mounted. The capsule can be replaced in seconds by simply unscrewing the threaded element.
Ideal for Studio or Stage
The VM-44 is just as home in a studio as on stage, and thanks to its small size it's easy to place exactly where you want it without being in the way. The natural sound and discreet appearance have made the VM-44 range very popular among TV studios around the world.
