The satin nickel Microtech Gefell UM 900 is a compact phantom-powered tube microphone with a standard 3-pin XLR output, multiple polar patterns, and adjustable gain and frequency controls, making it a truly versatile mic for an array of sources and applications ranging from studio vocal recording to miking an orchestra on a scoring stage.

All the UM 900 s electronics including the specially selected vacuum tube are housed in the mic s body, which is constructed to minimize reflections. Additionally, this allows the UM 900 to be connected directly to an XLR input as it requires no dedicated power supply unit.

The UM 900 features onboard switches for the 70 Hz bass cut, the -10/0/+4 dB gain control, and the five polar patterns-omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure-8. Thanks to the integral vibration-dampening fixture and the included elastic suspension, the UM 900 mitigates sonic disturbances from sources such as rumble. A windscreen is supplied for attenuation of light wind noise and plosives.
