An external power supply is provided, which includes a -10 dB pad that can be engaged when you re recording louder sources, allowing the mic to handle SPLs up to 125 dB. A second switch engages the 75 Hz high-pass filter, allowing you to reduce unwanted handling noise and low-end rumbles from HVAC systems for cleaner recordings. An LED lights up to let you know the tube has warmed up sufficiently for recording.
