Warm Audio WA-47 Large-Diaphragm Tube Condenser Microphone
The Warm Audio WA-47 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone designed to provide the tonal characteristics of classic U47 microphones for vocalists, musicians, and recording engineers in home, project, and commercial recording studios. Thanks to nine polar patternscardioid, omnidirectional, figure-8, and six intermediate patternsselectable from the included external power supply, its versatility allows it to excel at anything from close-up vocals to distant room sounds.
The K47-style capsule reproduction features dual gold-sputtered, 6-micron Mylar diaphragms with a single backplate. Tone-enhancing components, including a JJ 5751 vacuum tube, TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) output transformer, and WIMA, Solen, and polystyrene capacitors, have been carefully selected to impart vintage-flavored tone characterized by a smooth, uncompressed high end and strong, warm low frequencies. Even the 7-pin cable, manufactured by Gotham Audio in Switzerland, rises to meet the demands of uncompromised audio production. It ensures the integrity of high frequencies and minimizes phase shift between the microphone and the power supply.
The WA-47 ships with a wood box and a shockmount, which reduces rumble and decouples it from problematic vibrations.
Custom Capsule
The WA-47 utilizes a custom reproduction of the vintage K47-style capsule that was used in the classic U47 microphonedesigned with the same hole pattern and frequency response. Warm Audio s version of this capsule (model WA-47-B-80v) is carefully manufactured by an Australian capsule manufacturer whose precision and consistency allows sonic replication of the most important piece of this classic style of microphone.
JJ Vacuum Tube
The JJ 5751 vacuum tube from the Slovak Republic is a lower gain, low-noise tube that forces much of the sonics of the capsule and transformer to be heard more significantly than some higher-gain tubes might allow. After auditioning four different tube brands, the folks at Warm Audio fell in love with the JJ 5751. Its frequency response and tonal contributions are smooth and vintage in nature.
AMI Transformer
The WA-47 utilizes an American-made TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA transformer with imported large-core German laminations. This transformer helps provide the creamy smooth top end and the larger-than-life bottom end one would expect from a U47-style condenser microphone.
Premium Cable
One component of a tube microphone often overlooked is the 7-pin cable that connects the microphone to its power supply. When auditioning the WA-47 and other tube microphones, Warm Audio learned a lot about 7-pin cables and how the shielding and wire gauge can drastically change the sonic characteristics of a tube microphone. Warm Audio partnered with Gotham Audio in Switzerland to use their carefully built, premium 7-pin GAC-7 cable. Using this cable increases top-end presence and the overall size of the recorded image in the stereo field by reducing phase shift and the parasitic effect often found in poorly built cables.
Tone-Impacting Capacitors
The WA-47 uses a polystyrene coupling capacitor for uncompressed top-end response from the capsule. WIMA film capacitors are present throughout and an imported Solen capacitor drives the TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA output transformer.

Warm Audio WA12 MKII Single-Channel Preamplifier (Black)
Handle all of your single-channel audio recording needs with the black Warm Audio WA12 MkII, a preampliflier for professionals on a budget. This is a discrete, dual-transformer, high voltage mic pre that offers high headroom, a low noise floor, and sonics designed to impart a larger-than-life quality.
Based around an X731 opamp derived from the Melcor 1731, the pre offers a sound that can be warm or clean, saturated or transparent, depending on how hard you drive it. Drive it softly or hard, it won t change the essential sonorous quality of the unit.
It s also customizable for the DIY crowd: Because the unit was designed around the X731 opamp, the pre can accept any discrete opamp on the market that conforms to the 16V, 2520 pinout standard. In addition to the opamps, the WA12 MkII employs CineMag USA transformers, as well as other components that allow it to compete with units far more costly.
This preamp offers XLR and 1/4" connections for mic level, line level, or Hi-Z instruments. You ll also have your choice of XLR or 1/4" TRS outputs. A pad switch is on hand, as are a polarity switch and a button to supply 48V phantom power to condenser mics. A tone control lets you change the impedance from 600 to 150 ohms, which will have an effect on the sound.
Key Features at a Glance
- Utilizes premium grade input and output USA CineMag transformers
- 71 dB of gain, fully discrete signal path
- Can be replaced with other 6-pin 2520-foot print opamps for varying tone/flavor
- Tone button switches the input impedance from 600 ohms to 150 ohms, changing the tone of both the microphone and Hi-Z inputs
- 2-megohm Hi-Z input on front panel, sends instrument signal through entire circuit including both Cinemag transformers and the discrete opamp
- Suitable for guitars, bass, keyboards, and other instruments that have a 1/4" output jack
- Output attenuation control (after the CineMag output transformer) allows for driving the preamp and transformers into saturation
- LED meter gain indication
- External power plug

Warm Audio Premier Series Balanced XLR Cable (15 )
Presented here with a cable length of 15 , this Warm Audio Premier Series XLR Cable is designed to provide a high-end connection between balanced gear with XLR jacks, such as microphones, outboard equipment, and interface-to-monitoring connections. If you care about the details of your sound onstage and in the studio, use this cable to preserve your signal.
This XLR cable is chock-full of features that enable a top-of-the-line performance, such as gold-plated connectors and a star-quad wiring scheme for superior RFI rejection in the balancing process. Double-Ruessen shielding helps protect against EMI, and a braided outer wrap fights against tangling. To guarantee an optimal performance, Warm Audio partnered with Gotham AG, one of Switzerland s best producers of premium cable.
The Premier Touch
Warm s Premier cables go above and beyond, adding features like gold-plated connectors, a braided outer wrap, four-conductor star-quad construction (helping aid in giving you powerful rejection of RFI), and double-Ruessen shielding (also for increased rejection of EMI).
Braided Premier Wrap
This braided wrap removes the friction that occurs when rubber or PVC rub together, so it s much easier to handle and wrap the cable. No more fighting with a rat s nest of cable spaghetti. The braided wrap also adds an element of strength and reliability, as it helps to protect the cable s PVC jacket from damage due to pinching or binding.
Star Quad Explained
A traditional balanced cable uses three cores of wire to carry audio signalsone shielded core for the positive leg, one shielded core for the negative leg, and a plain outer wrap that functions as the ground. The idea is this: a fully balanced system flips the phase of the signal, merges the positive and negative signals together, and effectively cancels out interference encountered alo
