The white DPA 4071 CORE is a miniature, moisture-resistant lavalier microphone designed for use with wireless systems for broadcast, performance, and theatrical applications. The low-sensitivity electret-condenser capsule can handle loud vocalists, speakers, and performers and offers a presence boost to deliver crisp, clear, and intelligible audio. The mic features a rugged yet unobtrusive design that is well suited to the demands of professional live stage work and presentations.
This version of the 4071 uses DPA s CORE technology to deliver a 4 dB increase in dynamic range and a 12 dB reduction in noise over the 4071 Legacy model. The mic features a fixed protective EQ grid with a low-cut filter at 100 Hz and a high-boost of approximately +5 dB in the 4 to 6 kHz range. This EQ curve gives the mic improved clarity for chest-placement, making the 4071 popular for journalists and news crews.
With an SPL rating of 144 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling loud speakers, vocalists, and presenters. The 4071 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector.
Modular System Featuring Microdot Connector
Compatible Wireless Transmitters
- Various: Works with various transmitters via a compatible adapter (available separately).
- The modular design allows you to adapt the 4071 s Microdot connector to a wide variety of transmitters simply by purchasing the compatible adapter saving you the expense of buying another microphone.
Optional XLR Adapter for Wired Applications
The DAD6001 Microdot to 3-pin XLR adapter (available separately) allows you to power the 4071 from 12 to 48V phantom power for wired applications.
A Reliable, Broadcast-Quality Lavalier
Miniature Mic with a Crisp, Clear Sound
The 4071 CORE features a 5.4mm capsule that enables the microphone to be inconspicuous and easily disguised in clothing or costumes. The vertical diaphragm design offers a clear and natural sound optimized for the human voice.
Low-Cut Filter and High-Boost EQ for Chest Placement
To maximize speech intelligibility, the 4071 features a presence boost of typically 5 dB at 4 to 6 kHz to compensate for dampened consonants that can often occur when the mic is placed on the talent s chest. A low-cut filter at 100 Hz has been incorporated in the 4071 s capsule, so the built-in preamplifier (and the wireless system) will have more headroom for clear, distortion-free audio. Additionally, the low-cut filter removes low-frequency rumble, noise, and proximity effect.
Additional Options
This version of the DPA 4071 CORE does not include mounts, windscreens, or clips they are available separately.
- The SCM0032-B 2-Way Dual Clip allows you to mount two lavs for broadcasting.
- The SCM0013-B 4-Way Clip offers a variety of flexible positioning choices for up, down, left, and right mounting.
- To hide the mic, the DMM0021 Concealer attaches safely and securely to clothing and costumes and is designed to resist clothing and rustling noise.
- Foam windscreens to reduce breath and plosive noises are available in multiple colors choices to match clothing.
Lower Sensitivity for Loud Vocals, Speech, and Instruments
The 4071 CORE features a less sensitive capsule designed for loud speech and vocal performances at levels up to 144 dB SPL before clipping. It also makes the mic well suited to concealment in clothing and costumes and allows the mic to be hidden at the subject s hairline without overloading the input levels.
Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
The forgiving omnidirectional pickup pattern captures sound from all around the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sound. This helps to supply clear, intelligible speech and vocals, even when the talent turns away from the microphone.
Tough, Moisture-Resistant Construction
Engineered with a double-vent protection system, the 4071 is certified IP58 for dust and moisture resistance. The rugged 5.9 cable is built with Kevlar strain relief to survive the constant twists, bends, and pulls that are part of everyday use in harsh environments.
