The gray Tram TR50 is a miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone designed to deliver clear speech and dialog with a natural sound that mixes well with boom microphones, making it popular among professional sound recordists working in TV, film, broadcast, videography, and more.
The mic s omnidirectional polar pattern provides a generous 360° pickup response that helps to keep levels consistent, even if the talent turns and isn t speaking directly in the direction of the capsule. The flat, upward facing design allows the mic to be easily concealed while also helping it to resist clothing and rustling noises.
The TR50 features a 40 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response with a gentle 3 to 4 dB boost in the high frequencies for added clarity with minimum sound coloration, especially helpful if the mic is hidden behind clothing or fabric. Well suited to wireless applications, the mic features a 4.5 cable available in a variety of connectors for direct integration with bodypack transmitters. This model features a 4-pin LEMO connector wired for use with select Telex transmitters.
This version of the TR50 is wired with a negative bias which means that, in addition to being powered by your wireless transmitter, it can also be battery powered for wired XLR applications by plugging into a TR79 power supply (available separately). A tie bar, tie tac, clip-on holder, and tape-down holder are provided to help you mic up your subject. A windscreen, cable holder, and carrying case are also included.

Miniature Mic Plays Well with Other Mics
The TR50 offers a small, flat design that offers flexible positioning options while isolating the mic capsule to help resist rustling and clothing noisea especially helpful for hidden or concealed uses. The mic s clear, uncolored reproduction of speech and dialog mixes well with boom mics in post production.
Headroom for Robust Speakers and Performers
With its ability to handle SPLs up to 134 dB, the mic offers plenty of headroom for most speech and vocal applications.
Omnidirectional Polar Pattern
The forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all around the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sound. This helps to supply clear, intelligible speech and vocals, even when the talent isn t speaking directly toward the microphone.
Negative Bias
This version of the TR50 is wired with a negative bias. When used with the TR79 power supply (available separately), the mic can be powered via the LR44 battery in the power supply for wired use with XLR equipment. Negative-bias versions of the TR50 do not support phantom power. When recording with multiple TR50 lavs, always use models with the same bias to avoid phase-cancellation problems.
