The successor to the esteemed UCR411a, the Lectrosonics DCR822 is a compact, dual-channel digital wireless receiver that offers twice the channels in the same physical size. It offers a host of versatile, field-proven features for use in portable bag systems and on sound carts. The receiver is compatible with mono transmitters from the D-Squared line (DBu, DHu, DPR) and is also capable of decoding signals from the company s stereo transmitters like the DCHT and M2R. The unit is backward-compatible with Digital Hybrid wireless transmitters.
The DCR822 features Vector Diversity technology (an advanced type of True Diversity), two front ends per audio channels, a wide 18 MHz frequency band, 24-bit/48 kHz resolution, and a rugged machined aluminum housing to withstand the rigors of field production. It is ideal for mobile production sound, sports video, reality TV, and anywhere a wireless system must provide mission-critical RF reliability and audio quality, despite the challenges of shrinking spectrum and high noise floor.
A bright OLED screen and a user-friendly interface with intuitive selection buttons help make the DCR822 easy to see and operate on set. Setup is easy with the onboard RF spectrum analyzer and SmartTune functions that quickly find a clean, interference-free operation frequency. Settings are sent from the receiver to the transmitter via IR, at the press of a button. The AES 256-CTR encryption with four types of key policies ensures your transmissions are safe from prying ears.
Two TA3M audio output jacks can be independently configured as mic-/line-level analog outputs or as two-channel AES3 digital outputs. A variety of output cables are available separately, each to accommodate your mixer s type of inputs.
Providing another helpful addition, the onboard SDHC recorder is capable of recording .WAV (BWF) files while the transmitter is sending wireless signal, making it a truly useful backup option.
The DCR822 operates up to 6 hours on four AA batteries. The unit can also be powered using the DCR12/A5U universal DC power supply (available separately). Removable AMJ jointed antennas, a micro-SD card, and a zippered case are also supplied.
Vector Diversity for Mission-Critical Performance
The DCR822’s Vector Diversity subsystem smoothly and continuously combines RF signals from two receiver front ends per channel, with differing phase angles in order to obtain maximum energy. Not only does this method deliver clean, artifact-free performance in all modes, it is actually able to take two signals compromised by multipath interference and reassemble them into a usable signal.
The two RF gain stages (per audio channel) in the front end provide low-noise RF amplification, excellent sensitivity, and extremely low susceptibility to intermodulation and de-sensitization.
High IP3 Performance for Tough RF Environments
The DCR822 has one of the highest Third-Order (IP3) Performance of +15 dBm, comparing this with +5 to +8 dBm provided by typical audio RF transmitters. High IP3 performance allows the DCR822 to better eliminate the negative impact caused by third-order intermodulation artifacts, have better signal-to-noise ratio, and also perform greater reliability in today s congested RF spectrum.
SmartNR Noise Reduction
With a noise floor at -120 dBV and a frequency response up to 20 kHz, high-frequency noise in the source audio is more apparent than in conventional wireless systems. The SmartNR algorithm has three modes. When OFF, no noise reduction is performed. When NORMAL is selected, enough noise reduction is applied to remove most of the hiss from the mic preamp and some of the hiss from lavaliere microphones. When FULL is selected, enough noise reduction is applied to remove most of the hiss from nearly any signal source of reasonable quality, assuming levels are set correctly at the transmitter.
SmartTune Auto Frequency Selection
A major problem facing wireless users is finding clear operating frequencies, especially in RF saturated environments. SmartTune solves this problem by automatically scanning all the frequencies available in the unit, and tuning to the frequency with the lowest RF interference, significantly reducing setup time.
Onboard Recording via microSDHC Card
The DCR822 can record received audio on a microSD card, in the industry-standard .wav (BWF) file format, at 24-bit/48 kHz for compatibility with any audio or video editing software. Recording can be done simultaneously with audio output from the receivers. You can record up to 46 hours on a 32GB card.
Compatible Transmitters
The DCR822 offers compatibility with the D-Squared and Duet digital transmitters, including the DBu, DHu, DPr, DCHT, and M2T. There is backward compatibility with any Digital Hybrid wireless transmitters including the SM and SMWB series, WM, HM Series, MM400 Series, HHSeries, LT, LMb, UM400 Series, and SSM.
