Senal AWS-24G 2-Person Wireless Microphone System for Cameras and Smartphones (2.4 GHz)

I have many units like this, but the Senal stands out. To me, the most important thing is the recording feature, no matter how good the wireless is, which in this case, it is. I really don't care about the wireless side, but at the same time I need it for redundancy and monitoring. I use the wireless audio data going to the camera to serve as a scratch audio and easier to sync, and then in post, I sync both audios, and keep only the audio from the recorder by dumping the wireless track. Wireless vs. recorder: The wireless side, by default in many wireless units of this nature, the audio is always compressed, while on the recorder is a full resolution in WAV 16 bit 48 kHz, uncompressed. So far, I have never seen one that records 24 bit but 16 is satisfactory. The audio clarity from the recorder is significantly superior, with this unit or any other units. But from THIS units, the built-in mic is absolutely SUPERB, especially at mid range, providing a pleasant equilibrium on those frequencies. Wireless test: I tested walking in line of sight, outdoors and away from interference from other existing devices around. With my BACK turned and walking in a straight line away from the receiver, the first dropout occurred at 36 meters away (118 feet). Then, I turned around and walked back towards the camera with the mic in line of sight with the receiver on camera. It worked precisely AS ADVERTISED! From the entire 90 meters (295 feet), not a SINGLE dropout occurred. And for most uses like interviews or cooking shows or similar things, who needs more than 30 feet / 9 meters away anyway? The windscreens that come with this kit work like a professional windscreen does regarding wind noise prevention. It's clean. I recorded an entire video session for my Youtube channel using this device. The transmitter has a shorter battery runtime, than the receiver. I could use this set continuously for 4.5 hours from an immediate fresh charge wearing it immediately. The convenience of having 2 people talk and in discreet (separate channels) is a plus, not to mention the other ways to choose, such as Mono and Safety, which records at a lower volume on the second track. Does the AWS-24G have noise Cancellation? If you are a professional, trust me...you don't want that here. I would like to thank SENAL for NOT putting the noise cancellation feature on this unit the as it never sounds ok. That feature sounds like underwater and maybe it's ok for amateurs but useless for professionals and audiophiles such as myself. Most other brands put that pesky feature on their units and it is very easy to accidentally record the audio with the cancellation ON. You don't want that. Thanks again, SENAL. Unboxing for the first time: If you attempt to charge these units and notice that it won't charge, it's because you MUST remove the factory blue little protective film from the terminals. Remove them. The built in microphone frequencies and timbre is of VERY high quality and crisp. Requires very little EQ in post. As for the lavalieres that comes included, they lack treble and other important frequencies. The audio is still good enough but the internal mic is vastly superior. The other units I have, I also don't use the lavs as the exhibit the same. ALSO... On the recorder, you can shout, laugh (at reasonable levels) and the audio will NOT clip, even though, there is no way to adjust the gain. Only on wireless mode, which you can adjust from -12 to + 12db. Tip for you: Try adjusting the audio to +12, THEN reduce the gain on your CAMERA. That will give you the cleanest signal-to-noise-ratio since most DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras have lower quality pre-amps. I have a Canon R3 which is the top of the line mirrorless from Canon, whose pre amps are higher grade. And I still set the Senal Receiver gain to +12, then adjusting the gain on the camera's MIC input. Bottom line: I'm extremely satisfied with this unit. It provides excellent audio, battery lasts decently long enough and it's simple to use. This unit will be the default one for all my vacations, Youtube and even miking the BRIDE on a wedding. Place the mic on her chest. Most Bras have the perfect center place to clip the mic on there. Once you get that kind of audio from the bride, you'll never want to go back to capturing her usual audio from the groom at 4' away. It's NOT the same. Don't forget to ACTIVATE THE RECORDER on that as well!! So many uses for this!!!
