This single-channel compressor features a link switch that allows for multichannel synchronization of two or more Artistic Comp modules for multitrack recording and mixing and offers classic rotary knobs and switches for quick and intuitive adjustments. Fast-acting FET (field effect transistor) compressors are terrific tools for beefing up guitars, drums, and similar instruments where a more punchy, aggressive sound is desired over more transparent VCA and optical choices. Like most FET designs, the Artistic Comp SE is quite program-dependent and features a fixed threshold setting the compression depth is controlled by adjusting the input gain, while the output level control is used to make up for the gain reduction.
