WesAudio ngTubeEQ Overview
Enjoy the smooth warmth of a 100% analog signal path and the convenience of digital control with the Next-Generation Tube EQ from WesAudio, a 4-band tube-driven EQ with an impressive 26 dBu of headroom. Sporting the option for complete DAW control via plug-in and automation, ngTubeEQ provides an innovative hybrid workflow.
The ngTubeEQ is loaded with comprehensive control functions, including selectable 5 (-5 to 5) and 15 (-15 to 15) dB operational ranges. Three further operation modes include dual mono, stereo, and mid-side processing. Hardware memory settings let you make quick and easy A/B/C comparisons during mixing. And with digital I/O like USB and Ethernet, you can control your analog processing directly from your DAW and even record automation into your DAW via the touch-sensitive encoders.
Four Passive Bands
Based on custom inductors, the EQ bands are fully passive and offer comprehensive sound sculpting:
- 12 frequency points per band
- Each band can be easily disabled
- Variable Q configuration
- 22 Hz to 28 kHz frequency range
- Each band supports bell and shelf configurations
Low- and High-Pass Filters
- Active circuit
- 12 or 24 dB per octave slopes
- Whole circuit is bypassable on analog level
- Variable control
Carnhill Transformers and Output Modes
Transformers in audio compressors aren't just for electrical isolation, they can add a warm, sonic saturation we all love in our recordings. Carnhill transformers are part of the ngTubeEq adding all that vintage flavor. This unit also sports a dual-output design, featuring both a tube and Carnhill transformer with an Iron Pad, alongside an electronically balanced option.
- Green: electronically balanced for a cleaner and punchier sound with less sonic imprint
- Red: tube amplification stage, this mode provides a transformer-balanced output stage with Iron Pad, allowing you to raise the output of the unit and hit the tube amp stage and transformer section harder while maintaining the same output signal through the passive attenuation segment
THD Control
- Proprietary harmonic distortion circuit
- Entirely bypassable through an analog relay
- Variable control with 100 steps
- Integrated with the internal gain structure to add inductor-based saturation
Proportional and Constant Q
This EQ features unique Q settings, making it a rare EQ with both constant and variable Q implementations:
- Proportional Q is often described as being very musical. The more you boost gain the more narrow the EQ becomes.
- Constant Q offers more precision and is often preferred by professionals for enhanced control over source material. This option doesn't alter the Q of a particular band while the gain is modified.
Total Recall and Control Plug-In
ngTubeEQ supports direct USB connection or network integration via Ethernet for versatile setup options.
- Full control and instant recall via DAW plug-in
- Support of all common plug-in formats and DAWs
- Completely new GUI engine and intuitive UX design
- All parameters are accessible from the sweet spot
- Interactive LCD display with real-time parameter editing, linked to DAW metering
- Integrated high-precision metering from 0 to 26 dBu with clip detection
- Unlimited number of categorized presets
