The is a recreation of the rare EMI TG12428 preamp used in the late 1960s and early 1970s EMI/Abbey Road recording and mastering consoles. The sound was used on many famous recordings done at Abbey Road including The Beatles " Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd " Dark Side of the Moon." Chandler's version was remade from original design notes and circuit board drawings, provided by Abbey Road and EMI.
The TG2 preamplifier features the same discrete transformer-balanced amplifiers as Chandler's renowned TG-series limiter and offers smooth tone with an open, clear top end. In fact, the TG2 has a small rise in its high-frequency response and some warmth-inducing distortion which contribute to its sound. The preamplifier requires Chandler's PSU-1 MKII power supply to operate, sold separately.
