GC Audio RE-15 Overview
Recommended for engineers seeking a very quiet and clean-sounding preamp for recordings, the RE-15 Cartridge from GC Audio is a preamp module designed exclusively for the Inherit Modular Preamp System. Sporting ultra-low noise SSM2212 paired transistors, this solid-state preamp delivers the performance expected of a professional differential preamp.
When loaded into an Inherit chassis, the RE-15 provides a -20 dB attenuation pad for reining in overly hot signals. The low-noise op-amp delivers balanced and unbalanced signaling for I/O. The PCB features a carefully selected routing path for the most efficient and distortion-free signaling possible with this design. And with stepped gain control between 3 and 66 dB, you can get plenty of easily recalled gain out of signals without introducing excessive noise.
Stepped Gain Control
A welcome feature of the RE-15 cartridge for pro engineers is stepped gain control, which is provided in 12 steps:
- 1 = 3 dB
- 2 = 8 dB
- 3 = 14 dB
- 4 = 20 dB
- 5 = 26 dB
- 6 = 32 dB
- 7 = 38 dB
- 8 = 44 dB
- 9 = 50 dB
- 10 = 55 dB
- 11 = 60 dB
- 12 = 66 dB
