WesAudio ngBusComp Analog Stereo Bus Compressor with Digital Recall
Merging the best of analog and digital worlds, the WesAudio ngBusComp rackmount stereo bus compressor offers legendary mix bus glue, three operating modes (stereo, dual mono, and mid-side), and the powerful luxury of digital total recall. On the analog side, it provides high headroom of +26 dBu, THAT 2181 VCAs, Carnhill transformers, variable parallel compression, and adjustable THD coloration intensity for big tone that ll help you get pro impact in your mixes and masters. Plus, there s true bypass and hardware A/B/C switching, so you can easily compare dry versus compressed or three different configurations of settings.
When it comes to the digital integration, ngBusComp is high-tech with USB/Ethernet connectivity and plug-in control. It has five touch-sensitive encoders per channel that not only adjust the settings of the analog circuitry, but also allow you to write real-time automation from ngBusComp to your DAW. Alternatively, you can draw automation in the DAW and ngBusComp will react accordingly. You can route external sources to the sidechains of ngBusComp via dedicated 1/4 inputs or use the five different filter settings for full control over the internal sidechain.
New Implementation of a Legend
The legendary sound of the stereo bus compressor has been a true companion on countless recordings for 40 years. Often recognized as mix bus glue, this particular compression sound has become the industry standard in the analog and DAW worlds. WesAudio s ngBusComp implements legendary VCA compression into a 3 RU rack unit and brings with it one of the most demanded features in the audio industry-digital recall.
THAT 2181 VCAs
ngBusComp is a 100% analog device with +26 dBu headroom. Regardless of its digital control nature, the fully analog signal path provides top-tier VCA compression. It contains four THAT 2181 VCAs in the signal chain and one more in the sidechain detector of each channel.
Stereo or Dual Mono
ngBusComp detectors can be linked and unlinked anytime, allowing true bus compression behavior or dual mono compression when needed.
Mid-Side Operation
ngBusComp supports mid-side operation, so you can give your side channel different compression settings than the middle channel. This makes the ngBusComp capable for mastering as well as mixing.
Relative Channel Linking
Channels can be linked/unlinked at anytime to support different settings on both channels and still manage them in a relative way. Work on a mid-side mix separately for each channel, or engage parameter link and the makeup gain for both channels will be adjusted relatively to keep the same amount of volume difference.
Selectable Output Circuit
With ngBusComp you can select your output stage to be either electronically balanced or transformer-balanced with precise output pad control.
Drive Carnhill Transformers
In Iron mode, it is possible to use makeup gain to drive the transformers, and the special output pad is there to turn the signal down. The pad is a passive attenuator managed via a relay cascade, up to 15 dB of attenuation is available in 1 dB steps.
Mix Knob for Parallel Compression
The inclusion of a dedicated mix knob allows ngBusComp to perform parallel compression at the twist of a dial.
Sidechain Filters
ngBusComp s sidechain filter functionality allows you to modify signal going into the compressor s detector. It includes three high-pass filters at 60, 90, and 150 Hz, and two tilt filters which are special curve filters.
THD
THD stands for total harmonic distortion and it allows you to saturate your signal with beautiful analog color with variable intensity ranging from 0 to 8% THD.
Five Ratio Settings
ngBusComo provides selectable ratios of 1.5:1 and 2:1 for gentle mix bus processing, and 4:1 and 10:1 for more aggressive compression. Select INF mode to crush the signal with extreme limiting.
External Sidechain
Equipped with XLR main I/O and 1/4 sidechain jacks, ngBusComp lets you create a custom sidechain signal to control each channel of the compressor.
Hardware A/B/C
Even using ngBusComp as a pure analog signal processor, you can easily switch between three memory settings with the magic of simple A/B/C buttons.
USB or Ethernet Connectivity
ngBusComp supports direct USB connection, or you can manage it in your local network after connecting it to your router via Ethernet.
Detailed Metering
Each channel shows detail metering for input, output, and gain reduction. Of course, analog metering is forwarded to the plug-in instance.
Total Recall and Plug-In Control
Along with classic analog compression, you receive one of the most demanded features in the audio industry-total recall. Plus, full plug-in control (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and AAX DSP) makes ngBusComp compatible with most, if not all, major DAWs. This total integration with your beloved DAW will change your workflow forever.
Analog Automation
It s very common to want different device settings based on song sections. Now it is possible just draw automation lines in your DAW and the ngBusComp analog device will follow. And remember, you can use five touch-sensitive encoders per channel to record automation to your DAW.
