Schoeps Colette CMC 1 Microphone Amp and MK 2H Omni Condenser Capsule (Matte Gray, Stereo Set)

The matte gray Schoeps Colette CMC 1 Microphone Amp and MK 2H Omni Condenser Capsule (Stereo Set) is a matched pair of ultracompact, space-saving Colette Series modular omnidirectional condenser microphones designed to provide a gentle treble rise above 6 kHz at 0° along with transparent, low-distortion sound pickup, making the set an ideal choice for achieving a natural sound when miking instruments and orchestras at medium distances.

It includes two CMC 1 (XLR 3-pin output) miniature microphone amplifiers, two matched MK 2H omnidirectional condenser capsules, two stand clamps, two foam windscreens, a certificate of matching, a cable strap, and a premium case. Thanks to the inclusion of the ultracompact CMC 1, this bundle serves as a lighter and smaller alternative to the CMC 6 without compromising sonic performance.

CMC 1 Miniature Microphone Amplifier

The matte gray Schoeps CMC 1 is a miniature Colette Series microphone amplifier offering uncompromising high fidelity in a lightweight and ultracompact form factor for studio recording, broadcast, and live stage applications. Presented as an alternative to the renowned Schoeps CMC 6 amplifier, the CMC 1 is compatible with all existing MK mic capsules and Colette active accessories (available separately). It features a balanced XLR 3-pin output, compliance with 12 or 48V phantom power, and low current consumption. Its Schoeps RFI Shield provides high immunity from RF interference for a clean, low-noise signal. The CMC 1 supports the high maximum SPLs tolerated by the various MK mic capsules (available separately). A stand adapter is supplied with the CMC 1.

MK 2H Omnidirectional Capsule

The Schoeps MK 2H is part of the Colette series of modular capsules designed for use with the CMC mic amplifiers. If this microphone capsule is used indoors at medium recording distances (i.e. where direct sound energy is similar in amount to reflected sound energy), its overall response will be linear. Its extended frequency response and low noise make it appropriate for the most demanding applications.

The sound inlet of the MK 2H is narrower than that of our other pressure transducers, causing a slight, purely acoustic response elevation above 6 kHz. This reduces the high-frequency loss for diffuse sound, thus helping to preserve natural sound quality.

The MK 2H, like the MK 2S, is ideal for natural-sounding pickup of instruments and orchestras in spaces with well-balanced reverberance. The choice between the two capsule types is essentially a matter of personal preference. At a given miking distance, the MK 2H might be described as more "balanced and round" sounding while the MK 2S would give a slight additional brilliance. However, one might also choose the MK 2H for slightly closer placement or the MK 2S for slightly more distant placement, and then these two capsule types would have very similar sound quality, with the main difference being the balance of direct to reverberant sound which is picked up.

For spaced microphone (A/B) stereo recording and especially the Decca Tree method, KA 40 accessory spheres (available separately) are recommended.
