The Ocean Way Audio HR5 is a single, active two-way reference speaker designed to provide highly accurate monitoring with 100° horizontal dispersion for an ultrawide sweet spot, making it well suited for use in home and project studios for production, mixing, and mastering applications. Created by legendary speaker designer Allen Sides, the HR5 provides precise imaging and components that deliver a ±1 dB matching performance over a wide 45 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range.
A unique dual/hybrid waveguide system based on the speakers at Ocean Way Recording and engineered using 3D modeling ensures accurate, wide-frequency dispersion over a remarkable 100 x 40° pattern. In the mixing environment, this ensures consistent stereo imaging and accurate tonal qualities and balance throughout the room, not just in the ideal mixing position between two monitors. Milled from solid blocks of wood, the constant directivity horns for the HF and mid bands are non-resonant for greater efficiency with less distortion, even at high volume levels.
A 125W amp powers the 7` low-frequency driver, which features a light cone and aluminum voice coil to deliver a fast transient response. The high frequencies are handled by a 1` silk dome tweeter powered by a 90W amp. With a 110 dB peak output level, the HR5 delivers plenty of power for loud mixing sessions. XLR analog and digital inputs are provided and the speaker supports resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.
