Tilta Tiltaing Battery Plate v2 (V-Mount)

The cheese plate on the back of this is structured in such a way that you can't screw the 15mm rod clamps into the bottom of the plate without buying a separate .50 accessory. So if you want you battery vertical, it would be cheaper to go with other options. Just annoying that they didn't design it for maximum flexibility. What's the point of the cheese plate if you can't move the rod clamps?? That said, it's still a well built plate.

You can mount this in two positions by moving the bracket, but it is not really adjustable. This is fine for me though. Some of the adjustable options in this price point look like they aren't super robust.

The Tilta Tiltaing Battery Plate v2 (V-Mount) is a solid and sturdy Universal V-Mount Plate. The pros are that V-Mount batteries fit securely and easily click into place. Tested the voltages on each output and they are within reasonable tolerances. The cons are, first, the rail rod mount clamps do not swivel vertically, which means it can only be mounted horizontally. Second the 8 volt output does not have the current nor peak voltage to power my Panasonic GH5, even though it is supposedly within the camera's voltage operating range. I had to purchase a regulated dummy adapter that converted the D-Tap out voltage of 14.8 on the plate down to around 8.9 volts. It powers the camera fine using that output but now to me the 8 volt out on the plate is of no use to me. The third con is because of the other issues I mentioned above, it is therefore a little too expensive in my opinion. But like I said it is a solid build, looks good, and does have a few usable outputs.

i am glad i opted for the Tilta plate. the quality is top notch, per normal for Tilta. i end up using another rig over the weekend with a different brand plate. and not a cheap one. it was picky as all get out about batteries, with many being difficult to lock in or completely unable to do so. the Tilta has easily interfaced with every battery i have dropped on it. yah i know, i should stick to one battery brand but it just aint happening.

I own another V-mount that cost more, but this Tilta just feels better - the batteries hold a bit more snug, the materials feel better quality.
