Anton/Bauer P-Tap Charger

Overall this charger can be recommended - it's small, it's cheap, and though it may charge slowly, it works. Great for a travel kit. The selection of extra international plugs is a minor yet appreciated bonus. A trick you can use with this charger: Combine it with a loose battery plate that has an unregulated D-tap port (NOT a plate that's on a camera!) and you can charge other brands of V- or Gold-mount batteries that can't be charged through a D-tap port. YMMV, obviously. Because it's an Anton Bauer brand product, and since Anton Bauer created the D-tap port, I thought this would come with genuine Anton Bauer D-tap connectors - the kind that can be re-assembled so that the cable can come out from either side of the connector. Surprise! It uses generic no-name connectors that aren't reversable. In truth it's a generic product with the Anton Bauer logo slapped on. This fits into the overall modus operandi of Vitec - acquire a popular or high-quality brand, then cheapen the quality of the products. Though given the price, maybe it's my fault for expecting anything at all.
