Core SWX HyperCore Prime 190Wh 14.98V Lithium-Ion Battery (Gold Mount)

I've used these batteries daily for years now and they are just now starting to slow a bit, but still sturdy and great. Only flaw is the weak plastic screen that has cracked on 2 of the 5 of my batteries. Not terrible, I can still see the info, but its just cracked.

These batteries are ground breaking for those who need to travel with or ship batteries over 98wh. These batteries are 190Wh which is critical for an Arri Amira or similar camera. Don't be fooled by the bad reviews. People have had issues that dont follow the instructions and mix and match the different halves of the batteries, or try to use or charge only 1 half of the pair. These batteries are to ALWAYS and ONLY be used together and with their original pairs. Awesome product.

Bought 3 of these for my Mini Alexa rig. Work well and provide roughly 3hrs with c-tape, preston, wireless , and monitor.

Good in theory, but right out of the box it was issue after issue. Indicator lights not working. They would power my Red for a few minutes, then shut off and try to power cycle over and over. One of them charged once and wouldnt charge again....Dont buy.

Bought two of these for the high capacity and travel ability. I had the intention of buying many more, but after a few days of use, one of the batteries started loosing communication between the two halves. Sometimes it would fail to charge and power a camera. After clicking it apart and back together a few times, it would eventually start working again. Took nearly a year to get an RMA from Core! I sent it back a few weeks ago and every time I call they say they've sent it back to me... Anyway, one of the gold studs has broken off the second battery due to it's very poor build quality.

As an owner/operator freelance shooter I have bought a fair amount of Li-ion batteries in the past (Hawk-Woods, SWIT, IDX, etc.) and all of them worked straight out of the box once I charged them. Keeping those experiences (of using batteries straight out of the box) in mind I invested in 2 Hypercores 1 X2A charger for my Varicam LT right before I embarked for an international shoot in India. BIG MISTAKE The charger never worked on the slow side straight out of the box. Only the rapid charge side of the charger worked. The light indicating that a battery was installed would never turn on. This could mean the either the battery was faulty or the charger was. The last thing I wanted was to troubleshoot battery problems with a looming shoot at an international destination. After the first charge (around 7-8 hours) of one battery in the rapid charge side, I swapped it out with the other empty one. Even after two such sessions of (7-8 hours) of continuous charging this battery would just not charge. So not only did I have a faulty charger. Now there was a faulty battery as well. Since the batteries were purchased in the US, taken delivery in Los Angeles, according to Core's policies I could not return them to the local CoreSWX dealer to get a replacement. The next course of action was to send them back to my sister in Cupertino (where the boxes packaging for the boxes was) to initiate the return process. Thankfully, some foresight had made me ask my sister to hang onto them while I made this international trip. That was not going to be. Since we were at a destination that was not in the metros, none of the local shipping services would accept the batteries due to cautionary international cargo shipping restrictions. Now I was stuck with a 1500 battery solution that I might loose if I could not send the faulty batteries back to under their 30-day return period. Forget getting replacements flown in to continue with my shoot. Luckily, I was able to find some contacts of my mother's personal friends who were willing to carry the faulty kit back with them to the US. These contacts (a family of two young children and their parents) were not connected to the film industry so they had a harrowing time taking the batteries through screening stations. The screening checks caused 30-40 minutes delays for them at each juncture of their return trip (total of 3 times) when changing airlines. Imagine the trouble a family of non-Caucasian people who had no clue about Li-Ion Digital Camera batteries trying to explain why they were carrying 4 pieces of 95Whr through screening stations, which they had volunteered to carry for someone else. That caused me an epic level embarrassment among multiple people. All this while having no solution to continue shooting as per schedule. My reputation job were at stake, I cannot imagine what the producer was going through. I am really surprised that such gross malfunctions happened to multiple items. How did these units pass QC in the first place? I thought CORE was a respectable reliable company (having seen some reviews on checked their products out at NAB Cinegear in 2017) and now I had to buy a battery charger solution from an even more suspect brand in India to solve this really messed up situation. Never experienced such levels of problems in any of those other brands I mentioned. I was hoping, given the very unique nature of my situation, that CORE could make an exception by replacing my faulty battery charger with a working one through their local re-seller, but that was not forthcoming. Considering: (A) For having to put through some non production related contacts of mine through a really harrowing time at airline checks, and for causing me a major embarrassment for asking them of this favor. (B) For failing right out the box, new, when used for the first time at a remote international location and putting me in a spot where my producers, their reputation money was put at stake. (C) For putting my job, reputation reliability at stake. Hard for me to recommend them to someone else.

I purchased two of these. One of them had a non working LED indicator light. When you pressed the battery indicator button, the fourth light (of five) would not illuminate. Not a big deal but shouldn't happen with a brand new battery from the factory. Furthermore, when you shook the battery it sounded like there was something loose and rattling around inside. The second battery, once charged, made a rather loud continuous ticking/beeping sound. It's quite audible if you hold the battery up to your ear. And it's continuous. Far from ideal if you are planning to travel. Imagine trying to explain to TSA that it's normal for the battery to make a continuous ticking sound. I'm returning both. Finally, the buyer should understand that each half of the battery needs to be carried in a separate bag in order to be TSA compliant. I did not realize this until after I purchased the batteries and read it in the manual.
