Core SWX Powerbase EDGE LINK 70Wh Battery Pack (V-Mount)

I do video for weddings and other social events and I needed a way to power my rig all day without having to worry about swapping batteries every other hour. I tested this Core SWX Link 70W battery out today Saturday 11/04/2022 powering my FX3, a 5 inch monitor and a Sennheiser 600 mic set to phantom power. The batteries LCD display indicated that I was going to get around 4 or 5 hours of run time. The remaining time changes depending on what you are actually doing like if your filming, on standby or playing back video but overall it did give me a lot of shooting time today with everything powered. I think I will buy one more just for back up so I can do a 8-10 hour wedding without sweating near the end. I like this product but there are two things that I don't really care for and one of them is potentially a catastrophe waiting to happen. 1. Make sure you buy a D-Tap battery charger because it literally took me about 24hrs to charge it to 100% via the USB-C port using an Android phone fast charger. 2. I used my Manfrotto tripod with this rig today shooting and walking around downtown and twice the battery actually slipped out of the housing while I was moving around and setting up from location to location on foot. The battery has a spring loaded quick release switch but I never hit the switch. If you put enough tension on the rig just the right way it will 100% come out of the housing. The second time I just barely caught my whole rig from falling to the concrete from about 5 feet up on the tripod. Yikes! Like I said, I like this product but you need to understand the big risk involved. I saw another guy write a review about this same exact issue and I thought that maybe he was just a rookie idiot but he is definitely not and neither am I! Now I know for sure that I can't do too much run and gun action with this rig on a tripod. I am even thinking of devising a way to strap it down to the mount for extra security. The company really needs to make the next version of this battery with a locking mechanism that is not spring loaded. I have been buying photography and video equipment from for about 20 years now and this is maybe my 2nd or 3rd product review, that's how strongly I felt about warning people on this one. Buyer beware.......

This piece of tech is awesome. Bought this to use with an R5 C. Powered a 503 smallhd, two onboard lights, and the body. Amazing - worked flawlessly - highly recommended! Rolling 8k no problem thanks to this great piece. Only one meh - the removable tripod plate is pretty weak, I wouldn't put too much weight on it. That being said, super easy to detach and attach.

I'm pairing this battery with my R5C. With an LPE6NH in the camera and this providing USB-PD I'm able to shoot for 4 to 5 hours. The other reviews mentioning the base plate being loose isn't an issue I've had, but I can see where their concern is. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is it's missing something the older models had. A simple wake up button. The screen on this model is always on where in older models it would go to sleep and you could wake it up with the press of a button. The issue here is that when this new model does eventually go into storage mode and the screen turns off, the only way to wake it up is by plugging in the charger or pressing a tiny reset button between the terminals of the ptap (you'll need a paperclip or very small pin to press it). This created a small issue where I charged the battery full, it sat for a few weeks, I packed it for a shoot and when I connected the USB-C cable to my camera, the battery didn't wake up. With no button to press I was left with a battery that wouldn't turn on. Thankfully I brought along the charger and after a few minutes of searching was able to find an outlet to plug into to wake up the battery. Not a huge deal in my scenario, but if someone were out in a remote location with no access to an outlet and didn't have a paperclip/pin, this would be a big issue. Here's hoping Core SWX responds to this review with a workaround that I'm not aware of.

Been trying to balance out my rig for handheld run and gun video. I love this very balanced on camera and ran all day with 5R, monitor and fill light.

I wrote a review about this battery a few days ago titled Good for all your power needs but definitely risky....... detailing the risk of the battery slipping out of the housing because of the weak spring loaded clip. Please read that full review first then come back to this follow up review. Well, after some serious brain storming and a little trial and error, I think I have finally come up with an easy but effective way to secure the battery inside the housing using one simple and very cheap item. A simple washer, yup the kind that goes on a bolt! I really studied the width of the clearance of the spring loaded release clip when you depress it all the way down and found a washer to be exactly the right size. If you jam it into the bottom of the clip (see attached photos) you can effectively stop it from moving and ultimately releasing on its own. I tested it too, without the washer, I can literally rip or twist the camera with the attached battery right out of the housing without exerting too much force but with the washer, it is solid and you feel like you might actually rip the screw threads out of the cameras 1/4 inch instead of ripping the battery out the housing. So try it yourself and see what you think. Just make sure your washer is thick enough to fill the gap and stay in there without moving around. Also, after I came up with this fix, I immediately bought another battery but this time I got the D-Tap charger package. My battery came with about a 14% charge and when I plugged in the D-Tap charger the battery indicated that it was going to take almost 3 hours to fully charge. Much better than the 24 hours it took to charge with the USB-C. Good luck all, I would love to get some feedback on my fix. I have a big wedding to shoot tomorrow, so these two will definitely get some mileage!

The plate that attaches to the camera snaps off and dropped my bmpcc6k to the ground while on set. SMH unacceptable

Very useful pack with all the outputs. Can mount it anywhere. LCD is helpful. USBC is helpful for charging my Apple MacBook and other things.
