CAMVATE Male D-Tap to 4-Port Female Hub Cable with 15mm Rod Clamp

The hub is great, all 4 D-Tap ports are well made and work great. The coiled cable is great too, nice material. The clamp and mounting holes are a huge bonus. My only issue with this product is the male D-Tap connector on the end of the cable- it's thinner than most and is prone to falling out. This is especially an issue when you've got a coiled cable constantly pulling on it. I switched the male D-Tap connector with another to fix it. It's just one screw holding it together before replacement, which I believe is a necessity to use this product reliably. It's embarrassing to have power disconnect in the middle of a shoot. It works great now but I wish it had a better connector out of the box.

I placed my order for this item fairly quickly without looking at the description or reviews. Not always a smart decision but it worked out great. I didn't originally realize it came with the 15mm rod adapter. The rod adapter is an absolute must, and the build quality is great. In the past I've had issues with d-tap splitters not holding a firm connection. This product however maintains a firm hold. would highly recommend to friends.

Solves multiple needs: Power Distribution / Mounting in one go. Build Quality: The coiled-cable is rugged and connects with a strain relief to the distribution box, which will ensure long-term life. The distribution box is made of molded plastic and is well built. The mounting unit is made of milled aluminum with a ratchet-knob that is spring loaded and can be pulled up to change its position when fully tightened. Solid construction overall. Suggestions for Options / Improvements: (a) It would have been great to have an option with a straight cable instead of a coiled cable. (b) Cable organizing can be much better if there were multiple ways of mounting the breakout unit's cable exit. Right now it is at the top end when mounted under-slung, or bottom end when mounted it top-slung. It would make it better if the cable exit could be made bottom-end when mounted under-slung. The breakout unit is screwed onto the metal mounting bracket using three star-screws in a triangle formation. Even if we unscrewed them we cannot change the mounting position of the cable exit if we flip the unit vertically as the screw positions are not symmetrical. (c) If another option were available where the mounting bracket was horizontal mounted, as opposed to vertically, as it is now, that would make cable management much more streamlined when mounted onto a 15-mm rail system. Summary: Overall, great build quality and construction. Great value for the price. Gets the job done. Having the options I described above would make it even more useful and effective.
