Core SWX Coiled D-Tap Cable for 4-Pin XLR Devices

One of those cables you usually don't need often for use with professional cameras, but when your regular power options are not available it does the job.

I bought this to connect my Switronix Battery to my GH4 Interface Unit. First of all the right out of the box, the cable feels like it is cheap in quality. The coil is to tense and doesn't allow a springy-type pull the way other coils (with higher quality) tend to do. Secondly, at the time that I opened the box, the D-Tap connecter was damaged. I noticed this and was not entirely surprised, judging by the feel of quality in this cable. Thankfully the lovely people at were able to send me a new one with expedite shipping at no further cost to me. =) I received my second cable and connected it to my Switronix Battery Plate, it worked fine. This one also had a cheap plasticly feel. I can already tell this cable won't last me long. It's very difficult to trust it as I'm afraid it can break on a live shoot =( Thirdly, while it does work, my fingers began to bruise and swell when I tried to pull out the connectors. These things are REALLY REALLY tightly in place. It was so bad that I took my Leatherman Knife and shaved off the plastic parts of the D-Tap Connector just to lessen the tension. You may be thinking that tension is a good thing, but it is really inconvenient and makes you think that it can destroy not just the cable, but also the places it is connected to (i.e. Gh4 Interface, Switronix Battery Plate) My honest recommendation is to search for another cable with higher quality. It's the little things like this that can potentially harm your equipment and I'm not one to take such risks. If you do end up getting this cable hopefully you have better luck.

Sometimes I like to run a Kinoflo mini-flo as an eyelight/onboard camera light...and I no longer use a 4-pin XLR battery plate...but I always have p-taps available on camera, so I finally got one of these. It's solid, and the coil really helps keep it tidy.

I primarily use it to power my 7 Lilliput 665 O/P monitor from a 14.8v V-mount battery, when away from AC power sources
