SKAARHOJ PTZ Pro V2 Camera Controller with Blue Pill

PTZ camera operation can be really clunky with a computer and mouse only, but this controller makes it a much more enjoyable experience. Set up is a bit technical, and the dashboard isn't user-friendly at all, but once we started figuring what was where, it wasn't too terribly difficult to settle into a groove. If you're in the market for a good controller for your PTZ system, this is a great place to start.

At first glance, it seems small, but it can do a whole lot for what it is. A little pricey too, but it makes up for that cost in its versatility.This can control just about any PTZ camera you can think of. But it doesn't stop there. You can also use it to do basing video switching operations, and/or get tally information from your switcher sent to the console. The console has nice displays, many colored light options, tons of customization possibilities. It can control a host of other things too, if you're willing to learn the programming software.One of the cooler features is the ability to swap the selector rows between camera selector and shot selector. So you can use the numbered buttons to control either cameras or shots, and the lower row of larger buttons with displays to do the opposite of what you selected for the numbered buttons. And you can switch between this behavior by just holding down one of the buttons. It's a really useful feature. Particularly because the displays allow for more information to be added. Within a couple of hours, I was able to figure out how to program the controller to my personal liking. I even got quick responses from the Skaarhoj help staff. They helped me add 2 functions to this controller that I could only perform on my Sony PTZ controller. They were the only 2 functions that I could not do from that controller, everything else worked perfectly. I had those available to use within a couple of days, and they work.Lastly, as someone who travels a lot with his gear, I appreciate two important elements of this panel: its footprint and its power options. It's quite portable and light, but very sturdy and not missing any functionality. Easy to find space to put it on any tech table, and they added a blank side to allow your hand to rest while controlling the joystick. Can be powered and controlled just by PoE, which means I'm never panicked about having the proper power adapter.It has already accompanied me on its first job, and it handled it perfectly.
