Zacuto Kameleon EVF Pro Kit with Combination Power and SDI Cable

I had my eye on the Kameleon for years, but couldn't justify the price. Finally, I decided to give it a try, but I was disappointed. The reviews about the image being soft are accurate. Despite wanting to love it, after playing with it for a few days, I had to send it back. The biggest issue was the peaking, which was thick and chunky, like I was pulling focus on 480p display. The Blackmagic viewfinder I used previously had much better peaking, which was granular and precise. I attempted to update the firmware to fix the issue, but it failed, despite following Zacuto's instructions. Additionally, the Canon LP-E6 battery plate I purchased couldn't attach to the viewfinder because the LEMO connector was installed backwards. These issues should not exist. It's frustrating when companies charge exorbitant prices and position themselves as premium, but their product is no better than cheaper alternatives. Sadly, I had to return the Kameleon.

Some failure in the menu: 1. Audio bar shows audio peak or don't. It depends of... I don't know. Maybe if it's Monday?. 2. If you zoom in for details, peaking doesnt't apply (why??). 3. If you change languages, setting will not remain and you will have to set all settings again and again... 4. Latest firmware update on Zacuto website is 1.034. Installed on my EVF Pro out of the box is: 1.040 ?? 5. the selection for preselected menu F1-F4 are limited, Zebra2? Nope.. On the other side: You may work with a NP-F550 Li-ion battery pack (7.2V 2350mA) for 2 hours, this is very nice. The colors for peaking are not only red (specs on Zacuto website) but also blue and white and the image quality on 3840-2160 HDMI ist excellent.

Image not sharp across the screen, or even in the middle, so finding critical focus can be guess work. Dust particles gather across the elements that are sealed inside so they cannot be cleaned. Colors aren't accurate. Etc.
