Shimbol TP Mini 600' HDMI Wireless Video Transmission System

This kit is an incredible deal for the price. It is almost at an impulse buy price. Even though the price is low the performance is excellent. I decided to take out and give it a test run before using it for any real work and I was not disappointed. The units connect automatically and I was getting a signal a few seconds after powering them on. In my non-scientific test I was able to get a little over 500 feet before running out of space to go further. At this point I was still getting a consistent signal. I noticed that after I passed 400 feet I got some dropped frames here and there but I was at a park with trees and slight hills so maybe the line of sight was not ideal. I imagine that the further you go the more critical line of sight becomes. Overall this is great kit. For the price I could not be more happy.

Bought it for a wedding live feed/stream and it never connected during the ceremony. It worked at home for me during testing. So maybe I got a faulty one... Definitely disappointed.

I pre-ordered this system when I first heard of a sub-€100 video transmitter kit. My expectations were low and naturally when it came in I was pretty suspect. There is next to no documentation in the box and when I plugged both units in, they didn't pair up quickly and since there were no directions, I called for an RMA for what I thought was a dead unit. I was wrong. I did for some reason, seem to need to pair the 2 units, which is easily done by depressing the bottom buttons for a few seconds and releasing. If you have the receiver connected to a monitor, you will see on-screen prompts which also show if they are connected or not. After they are both paired, and each time going forward, expect it take a short while for the two units to connect and start sending video. Be patient and after 10-20 seconds you should have a signal. Video quality is very good, and while I only used my Shimbol one time, I am pretty happy with it. I used it in a room of around 800 people last night with good line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. There were no dropouts and and no image freezing. There is however a bandwidth issue. When the remote camera was quickly panning across all the people in the room, the transmitter just cant keep up with all the required data, and there were massive latency issues, where the top of the screen and the bottom of the screen were visually pretty far off. If you are planning to use this cheap device for live to air, this most likely wont work for you, unless you have a very simple image, such as a single talking head. If you are using this for a director's monitor on a movie or commercial shoot, this will do just fine. It happily transmits through a wall or two, but not much more than that. For me, I am super happy since set will work for 80% of my remote transmission needs. If I am going to air with a wireless camera, I will continue to rent a proper wireless system.

I have used a number of wireless HDMI systems, and all have some deficiencies. Some drop when a person interferes with short line-of-site applications, and others randomly drop. This small device allows showing a security camera in two spots within the house. Over about 4 weeks it has twice loss connection. After trial and error, I found that removing the power from the transmitter (not just turning the device off) restores the connection. The link is about 50 feet through several walls. I intend to buy more of these.

600' advertised range is inaccurate--even with line of site it's much much less than that. And even with the TX and RX side by side you will get some frame drops that are fine for monitoring (maybe even focus pulling) but make it totally unusable for live multicam work. In saying that though, I've experienced similar drops much higher end systems so considering the price of this system, I think it punches well above its weight. Build quality is surprisingly good (the dragons are just stickers so you don't have to have them look like that on set lol), the units are nice and light to make rigging easy, the image is sharp and relatively artifact free, and the pairing process is seamless. Just important to know that that 600' range is false going in and be ready for frame drops.

For the price you cannot expect HDMI wireless kit at five hundred dollars. Made work solid metal. Tiny and sexy. The only thing I think it will suffer over the years is the switch on/off. This one fell cheap. But know that you know just take care. I am fully satisfied
