Tiffen Multi Rota Tray Variable Neutral Density Kit

I live in a typically VERY BRIGHT location; Arizona. I often use 'high' value ND filters when shooting outside. (1.2ND and up, go to about 2.4 regularly.) I have purchased not one but two of these Tiffen MRT VD kits. They're terrific. They allow you to dial in any level of ND you need (up to a point). It's not the same as having ND built into your camera, where sometimes it's too week or too strong. With this Tiffen product, you can dial it in perfectly. The longer the lens, the more you can use... I've found that wide angle lenses typically don't allow as much/deep of ND as telephoto lenses. I've not really used the warm/cool effect, but if I ever need it, I'm glad I have that ability. One thing to look out for is the dreaded X in your footage. I'm not alone in learning this the 'hard way,' I'm sure. I shot a time-lapse, and cranked the VND all the way. Unfortunately, there was an X in my footage. I was able to 'repair/fix' it in post... but that took time. One needs to learn how far they can push the VND before the X appears. I liked the first one so much, I bought a second one! One really cool aspect of this kit is that if it's DAMAGED, one can 'repair' it themselves! I had a customer DROP mine... broke both filters. Instead of having to purchase a completely new kit, I was able to replace the glass portions, which were less expensive! Tiffen is such a great company, and truly believe in top flight customer service!
