The main advantage of this ball head is its adaptability to fit different types of gear. When used with both the top and bottom mounts, it can attach any shoe-mounted accessory in order to articulate it. The shoe mount has a 1/4 -20 female thread at its bottom, which allows you to attach the ball head to a compatible screw as well as a hot shoe. Further, the cold shoe at the top can be removed to expose a 1/4 -20 screw that can connect to even more kinds of accessories.
