ANDYCINE X7 7' Ultra-Bright 4K HDMI Monitor

This monitor is a nice upgrade from a Lilliput 7. I wish they had a 10 version. The screen is very bright and the colors are crisp (for what I do, sports filming). The aluminum case is perfect. Note: the box doesn't have a power supply included.

Overall conclusion: A very solid entry for a budget monitor, especially if you want a well built case, a bright and pleasing image, and don't need all the bells and whistles. Screen: While not as bright as I expected (though I honestly expected it to blind me, so the bar was set high), it certainly seems bright enough to do the job. Haven't had to use it in direct sunlight yet so I can't talk to that. Ive been running it at 15% indoors and it's just fine. Case: The aluminum housing is part of what sold it for me, as I feel it significantly reduces the need to get a separate cage (a .50 savings). Assist tools: It doesn't have waveforms or vectorscope, but as I don't find those particularly useful in the field, so it's not a bad tradeoff of the build quality and brightness. I also don't mind not having touch screen, as I prefer physical buttons as I don't have to change my workflow when gloves are required. I really love all the aspect ratio options/customization. Menu/functions: A few people have mentioned the menu system being awkward. While not super intuitive, I haven't found much issue with it if you use two hands. Also, I don't have to be in the menu much because of the three custom function buttons. I have mine set to focus peaking, false color, and flip (this monitor unfortunately doesn't do that automatically). I also like that you can access the volume and brightness without entering the menu (the right and left buttons do this respectively). Accessories: Mine didn't come with a case, so that's bummer. I do really appreciate the dtap to 12v adapter that did come with it. It didn't come with a monitor arm (as expected), which isn't an issue for me as I picked up a pretty solid Smallrig option for under .15. Lag: I noticed pretty early that the monitor is pretty laggy when being fed a 4k image. I haven't played with the oversample/undersample option to see if this has an effect because I just switched my camera to output 1080 and it works great in that setting.

There are a few things I would improve. The I/Os should all be facing back instead of down, that way they don't get block if they are mounted on cages. Secondly, there are some serious image banding issues that don't seem to go away. Pictures attached. Otherwise this is a great monitor for the price.

I like this monitor: it's bright, large, and relatively inexpensive. It does get hot when running for a while, however, and navigating the menus is a bit of a pain.

My wife uses this for stills shooting where 90% of the time her camera is either eye level, standing, or higher, and pointed down. Much easier than climbing a ladder to check the viewfinder, and much better than a right-angle VF. We run HDMI out from an D810 to this, and have it on a pangshi brand 11 magic arm and clamp. Fantastic setup. Should be good for video as well, but only as an external monitor for false colors, scopes and the like - doesn't record. Very happy with this!

Shooting outdoors requires a very bright screen and this delivers. Great color and useful tools. I've used it with both HDMI and SDI and its worked flawlessly. Very solid feel. I'm loving this... :) Thank you Andycine...

Color seems very accurate and it's daylight viewable. It's a very good value for the money and physically well built. The only downsides are that it gets HOT, and doesn't have LUTs or a waveform feature. Battery life is surprisingly good.
