Atomos D-Tap to DC Barrel Coiled Cable

Unfortunately I will have to return. I wanted to power the monitor from my Core Nano M Series batteries on my camera to avoid the extra battery weight on the monitor and have one power solution, but the D-tap does not fit the battery. It is too big for the connector on the battery. Might work with other batteries, but not the Core Nano M Series which I own :(

This is perfect for any rig where you're using a the dtap to power your monitor, and want to ensure your dc power chord is secure and won't come unplugged.

I like the product overall. It has a good build and functionality. The D-Tap plastic part needs some work indeed because it always needs to be forced into the battery connection. The product is definitely overpriced for what it has to offer and (in my case) it had a pretty short life. I literally lost connection with my monitor in the middle of the shoot and was under impression that my monitor broke down on me instead of my expensive cable.

I agree with some of the other reviewers about the fit of the D-tap connector: its as if the plastic molded housing is slightly too thick to fit into the mating connectors on the batteries (I'm using IDX). Its annoying, but not a deal-breaker. Just be careful when inserting. I guess the good news is that there is NO way this plug is going to fall-out of the battery! The other end locking barrel connector is fine. I would have preferred a straight rather than right-angle, but not a big deal either way. For me the biggest issue is that the coiled cable is just way too stiff. What I mean is that, to pull the cable from say 18 to 36 length, it takes POUNDS of force. This creates a problem if you mount your recorder/monitor ON the camera on the fluid-head, and the battery on the tripod leg. Tilting, panning or moving the camera position stretches the cable slightly, and this is enough to disturb the fluid-head balance. I think the cable could be improved if a more flexible (silicone?) cable-jacket were used instead of whatever this material is.

Had to have it to power my Shinobi monitor but it's annoyingly overpriced for a simple cable. And you have to buy the battery eliminator as a separate .24 piece of plastic making this an over .100 gotcha.
