GVM Professional Video Aluminum Alloy Motorized Camera Slider (32')

Great value *if you're using the right camera. We first tried out the slider with our Panasonic GH5, and it worked well. Footage looked nice and smooth. We then tried it with an iPhone 12 using a phone tripod mount and the footage was unusable. The micro vibrations from the unit transferred directly to the phone causing some pretty terrible shaky footage. We're working to find a solution to minimize the vibrations, but for now, this is unusable with an iPhone.

I've used this for studio videography and shoots in the field and it's good for both. Shots are smooth and the ability to pivot the head gives you options for more dynamic shots. Great slider for the price.

TL;DR: Controller came broken. Customer service is some dude's cell phone and they aren't answering calls or responding to emails. Slider itself is good, but the controller is cheap and has no options to save any presets, so you have to set it up for the first time, every time. Buying feels like a risk despite the value for the money due to lack of customer service should anything go wrong with the product. Full review: My slider came with a broken controller. I opened it up (only four small philips head screws) to find the little brass battery contact thingies are held in place by a piece of plastic that lays across the brass contact thingy's wires to hold them in place. This piece of plastic screws into two posts, and those two posts were broken clean off. Whoever did this had to have known and was just like eff it. and threw it in the slider's box anyways. Really cool, bro. I mean the whole thing is cheap plastic, so you gotta go easy on it. I figure that it's going to be easiest just to have GVM ship a new controller, so I head to their site to reach out to customer service, and that's when the first red flag popped up - It's a local number. Not a 1-800 number that tells you that there are probably several customer service agents standing by to take your call. So, I call the number and there's not even a recorded voicemail (VM) letting me know that I've called GVM. It's that terrible default VM that reads off the number you've called and tells you that they aren't available. Shady as eff. Well, I don't know if this is GVM or some random dude's number, so I hang up instead. I opt to send an email to what is at least a fully qualified domain email. The problem there is that this was days ago and still no response - not even an automated one telling you that they received your inquiry. So, I call the number again as it's a day later and a littler earlier in the day, only this time there's still no answer and I get a message that the VM inbox is full. Well, I wanted to test the product, and there's a shoot coming up, so I had no choice but to jury rig the controller with good ol' super glue. It will probably fall apart again and the worst possible moment. The good news is that the slider itself works really well, whether manually or using the built in settings for auto-control. As mentioned in other reviews there's no saving any presets, so when you pull this out and set it up, it's like setting it up for the first time, every time. I would also recommend using a fluid tripod head and possibly an extender to lift the head higher off the slider to help with certain shots (dollying, for example) to help reduce the shots where the slider is in frame. Despite the cheap and broken controller, I would say that the slider itself is pretty good for the money. However, I don't know that I would recommend it if there's no customer service to back up their warranty.

So far I'm in love with this slider! I have been looking for a reasonably priced motorized one for a while and came across this one on for the price I pulled the trigger and now, I couldn't be happier! this has definitely gotten me those shots i've been longing for, for my B-Roll on youtube. for mounting it had 1/4-20 or 5/8th I found some Quick release AndiCine 1/4-20 mounts and ordered a couple extra Impact light stands for a quick setup and break down

I have three of these I use for B-cams in a livestream production. The controls are not super intuitive, but for the price you can't beat it. I have been using for about a year with no issues.

I went with this Aluminum slider instead of the Carbon Fiber version as I had read and watched some reviews saying this is a little more steady and also can be closer to the ground when using it's attached legs. The extra weight is not an issue as I'm already lugging a 60 or more pounds of gear. I've used it on two interview shoots on a single tripod and it worked great. As others have wrote, the controller is super basic and low-fi but it is efficient with it's battery use and once you learn it, there really is no need for a slick interface. I like how you can manage the speed of the slider in single percentage points. I found that I like the look of it on auto mode at about 75% speed. The case is really great. I rarely care for the cases manufactures include with their products but this one is the exception. I leave my tripod plate mounted to the slider and just pack it a way in the case.
