DJI PROSSD 1TB

I've had the Ronin 4d since April and have been using it with my intro to filmmaking class in addition to making videos for the organization. I was using a 256gb CF express card before purchasing the Pro SSD. the CF express was adequate. However, it was restricting because it didn't use all of the options for recording. I looked into the Pro SSD, I didn't buy it at first due to its cost, which I think is very steep like the counterweigh (€399 for a piece of metal that only functions as a weight? No way) €799 is a lot to ask for a storage solution and getting the adapter was €229 It's too much in my opinion. Before purchasing it I tried using an m.2 ssd with an enclosure and used the usb c on the camera to connect it. However, there were some issues after formatting the m.2 the write speeds were fast but the read speeds were extremely slow. Playing back a recording on the camera was nearly no existent. I purchased the Pro SSD and it works extremely well, it unlocked the ability to use all of the recording settings I needed. It's unfortunate that it's the only option that DJI is giving the consumer right now for recording at high resolutions and frame rates. In terms of speed its about as fast as an m.2 ssd, like the WD blue sn570 reaching speeds of 780* MBs R&W (The WD Blue is slightly faster at 820* MBs R/W) The DJI Pro SSD works well for my needs and It makes getting a CF express card not worth it. However, the price is steep and requires the the adapter to work, which is also pricey. Altogether, with the Ronin 4d, it makes it necessary to own.

If you have the Ronin 4D, buy this! You might need a few, but they are easy swap and doesn't burn up. Transfers are intensely fast, so you can have 2, swap, while someone uploads material and then go back and forth between the two.

Pricey for an SSD drive but it really makes everything clean and simple with the Ronin 4D. I had to use Cfast cards until this came in stock and it seems to offload footage much faster. 1TB is a good size for not having to worry about space on a video shoot. I do wish it sat more flush with the camera when mounted but so far that hasn't been an issue for me.
