The legs fold up and the tripod can be used as an extension handle, or they can be spread to sit flat, making it easier to balance your camera on the gimbal. When the legs are spread out, rubber pads on the tips provide grip on slick surfaces, which makes it suitable for use as a table top tripod as well.
