Tilta Gravity G2X Handheld Gimbal System

This is a great gimbal but it does not work well with the BMCC 6k. I gave it two stars to grab attention before you purchase this item. The size of the sensor and also right side heavy body makes movement and set up extra hard to manage. Not a good match. I would not buy this gimbal if you have the BMCC 6K

Stay far away from this one. Ordered this gimbal on a black Friday deal and am extremely disappointed. The motors consistently cut out even though it is advertised to hold up to 8lbs. I thought maybe there was something wrong with it so I contacted support. After several days of back and forth I sent them a video of what was wrong, and they said it looked like a software problem. So I had to ship it to California on my own dime because it did not come with a return label when I received it in the mail. After a few days I get back the same gimbal I had sent; it had the slight marks from sliding my camera on and off, and some of the words slightly rubbed off on the side. Not only that, but it wasn't even fixed! Had the exact same issues as before, I don't think that is a coincidence. Support argued with me saying it's a brand new gimbal which is an obvious lie. To top it all off, the app is a beta from a long time ago that isn't even on the app store, and doesn't have an option for the g2x! I thought Tilta was a reputable brand but I guess I was wrong. You'll be much better off saving up for the Ronin.

Nucleus-nano is what bumped this up to 4 star. I bought this for the black magic 6k pocket cinema camera, they claimed it would fit and balance with a full cage. It will not. As you know with all the adding you have to have with a cinema camera it get a little heavy. Well this Gimbal will not work for the BM6k :( get something better. The Nano however is amazing. Great connection with Bluetooth and battery powered finger control.

I've only had the Tilta G2X for a few days so this is my initial impression. The build quality is good. It feels nice in your hands and, once you master the balancing, operates well. The unit is rated for eight pounds but I found it difficult to balance a five pound rig where the weight was 75% lens. Tilta support suggested a counter weight at the body (which I may try) but, at five pounds plus the weight of the G2X itself, it's already challenging to operate the gimbal with one hand and the focus with the other. As a filmmaker the option of the integrated follow focus was key. The Nucleus Nano seems to work well. I like the idea that I can also use it with my other rigs...and it's wireless. I also like that Tilta makes the Dual Pistol Grip Battery Handles With Controller Stick as an add on, allowing you to convert to a two handed gimbal system if needed. It turns out that you MUST download the control app to properly calibrate the unit. The app does give the user a lot of control and customization so it's something you'll want anyway...and it's free. I wish the app was iPad native, though. I hate using my phone when I'm shooting. Please note: was out of stock so my kit was drop shipped from Tilta. That said, the site says the kit doesn't come with batteries but mine did. It also says it comes with a hard case but mine came with the Tilta soft case. recommends the baseplate lens support as an accessory but my kit came with one...now I have an extra I can't return.

One of the nicest feature about the gimbal is the build quality. Some reviewers also mentioned the incorrect horizon lines which is absolutely true. You have to recalibrate it every time which is kind of annoying imo. The motors also shuts off every time i put it to inverted mode. My set up is c100 with 10-18mm which is within the weight limit. I’ve also tried a lighter set up, M5 with 10-18mm and same thing happens, shuts off in inverted mode. That might be the main reason why it’s on sale. Save your money.
