One runs 3/8 -16 female to 5/8 -27 male, allowing a mic stand to be mounted on the male end. The other runs 3/8 -16 male to 1/4 -20 female. This latter one can be attached to tripod plates, monopods, and other supports that have a standard 1/4 -20 mounting screw, and the first one attaches to this one to support a mic stand. Alternatively, the two can be used individually where supported and as needed.
