Zacuto Axis Mini for Sony FS7

I purchased the Axis Mini along with Zacuto's VCT Universal Baseplate for my FS7 because I do a lot of handheld work and I liked the idea of a perfectly balanced rig. However, I found that even with the Axis Mini, I could not position the EVF far enough away from my face. The baseplate positions the camera so far back I had to move my head back several inches into a contorted position in order to look through the EVF. The cable that runs from the EVF to the camera body becomes taut with the EVF that far out, which is not ideal either. I also found that the Axis Mini not only positions the EVF to the front of the camera, but it also brings it uncomfortably far away from the body of the camera. I had to turn my head to the left in order to see through the EVF which quickly put a lot of strain on my neck. This is a well engineered part, but it is HEAVY. The stock rod that connects the EVF to the camera is light as a feather compared to this. This might be a good system if you're willing to put down another 2k for Zacuto's Gratical HD EVF, but I'm happy with the stock EVF. I ended up returning this and going with Shape's baseplate which positions the camera so that the EVF is at a comfortable distance from my face. Vocas also makes a killer baseplate that is much lighter than either of these.
