Transvideo Aaton-Cameras Smart Grip Handle for RED DSMC 1& 2
Updating a classic, the Aaton-Cameras Smart Grip Handle for RED DSMC 1& 2 from Transvideo takes the comfortable and sought-after design of the Aaton wood handgrip and updates it to work with and control RED DSMC cameras. Mounting onto your camera or extension arm, using an ARRI-compatible rosette, you can adjust the position of the walnut wood grip, so it sits comfortably in your hand, and it doesn t get as hot or cold as a metal handgrip. The handgrip uses the Foolgrip Bluetooth mobile app for iOS (an Android version is promised) for setup and camera control.
The electronic updates to the handgrip feature three user-definable function buttons that are literally at your fingertips on the handgrip. On top of the grip, where the original Aaton run/stop/test button was located, is a joystick you can manipulate with your thumb, without compromising your hold on the grip or camera. A scroll wheel, also easily controlled by your thumb, rests just to the side of the handgrip. The included cable provides power to the grip and communication with the camera.
Setup
Configure the handle using the downloadable Foolgrip mobile app, which allows you to assign and save various functions to the handle via Bluetooth. Advanced features let the user assign several commands to a single button or create custom actions using the RED presets feature. The app allows you to assign prerecord, mark frame, custom fps, soft keys, or fan settings.
Button Setup
Each button can be configured with both a release action and long-press action. Up to four different pages can be created in the app, allowing you to customize the button functions. Please note that buttons assigned to system lock or page cycle do not have the dual-function (release and long press) capability.
Back Up and Restore from App
Save and reload page or camera setups at any time. The app can also export the cheat sheet in .pdf or image format, so you can easily tell the functionality of the programmed buttons.
Maintenance
Made of natural walnut wood and aluminum bee s wax can be used to protect the wood.
