Works just like a quick release plate is suppose to. Fits the bottom of the camera and fits on the tripod. Hold when it is suppose to and releases as asked.

This Quick-Release Plate can replace a damaged one (as the VT-4000 comes bundled with one already), keep you ready in case you do damage one in a grimy environment (though mine has weathered some nasty shot locations without a problem) or if you lose it, or if you want to be able to quickly switch among video cameras on-site. The cork base grabs the video camera's base gently but firmly for a grip that doesn't slip and rotate out of place. The Quick-Release lever-and-button arrangement keeps your gear from falling off the tripod head, giving you easy, quick, and positive-feeling lock-down and release. The haptic feel is solid, affirmative, and yet intuitively simple when you need to mount or dismount your video camera. I use one camera right now, but a lot of shoots start with little set-up time available, a delayed bus or ride, or some other logistical snag that makes quick set-up with the tripod absolutely essential, or I will lose my shot. Having an extra one of these Quick-Release Plates handy enables quick choice among multiple cameras or switching between them (e.g. if you have multiple devices pre-attached with different prime lenses, etc.). Pre-mounting my camera to the Quick-Release Plate, as primitive and simple as it sounds, has saved a handful of absolutely amazing moon & nature shoots for me. As I expand my kit, I will be making good use of my second Quick-Release Plate, as well. It's sturdy, it works, and I like it. Highly recommended.

I teach AV production at a high school. I have used 9 of the VT-4000 tripods for 5 years and they take all of the rough handling of high schoolers. These brackets are tough and get the job done. If we ever need to replace these tripods, it will always be Magnus. Very pleased.
